Manga Pub Thread v. beta
Hello I don't watch anime, but I do read manga alot. Been really reading alot. Right now I'm currently reading:
Suikoden 3
Tsubasa: Resevoir Chronicle
Kodocha
Flame of Recca
Kare Kano: His and Her Circumstances
Ai Yori Aoshi
Tsubasa is really nice. I like it alot especially cause of the familiar characters. I've only read the first volume, but only cause their's only 1 out and the second should be here soon. It's really lighthearted. I wonder how many volumes will be produced.
His and Her manga is awesome. The anime can't touch it with a 90 foot pole. It is so much more developed obviously because of its leangth and the fact that it is still on going. I've read up to vol 11. I think there's aroun 18-19 out in Jap right now.
Suikoden 3 manga is actually pretty good. I thought it would be pretty stupid, but it follows the game quite well. It explains some things about Hugo and Chris before the actual game starts. The art is done quite well. It is very predictable if you've played the game, but there are also some extras between characters that aren't in the game that are pretty funny.
Anyone who recommends some good mangas, please post them. I need some romance mangas. Who has some?! Please post some synopsis.

I got Suikoden III vol 3 this past weekend. I'm really really enjoying it.
I need to catch up on One Piece and Naruto, and I want to dl Kare Kano's manga but...I don't know where I can get it.
Ikari, if you want romance you can always go for Marmalade Boy.
DO passed me this link the other day. Ippo direct links: http://archive.reis2.net/Hajime_no_Ippo/index.html

Suikoden 3 manga is alright, my only complaint is the style of the drawing.
I haven't read Marmalade Boy in soooooo long and I just finished Hana Yori Dango a few months ago. Hana Yori Dango definitely gets my vote, there's like 35 volumes though.

First and foremost I'm reading Peach Girl. That's been on the top of my list for two years now.
Other then that I'm reading:

Vagabond (vol 11 I believe)
XXXHolic (vol 2)
Prince of Tennis (I call it Teenis : Vol 3)
FMP (vol 5)
Kenshin (vol 6)
Bleach (ch 131)

X is dark.
XXXholic is tame, and actually quite funny and intriguing. Give it another chance Ikari. I love Tsubasa though.
@ j0n:
I finished volume 3 today. Momo and Ryoma just finished the doubles for the tournament by playing divided singles. Haha. Ryoma's isn't a complete DICK like I thought he would be either.
That, and I want Ryoma and the adorable gal with the long pigtails to get together with him somehow. That's just me being me though. Haha.
j0n, im me in an hour at AkarIchijo, I'm taking the bus home now.
;p

Ahhhh, that's pretty funny
The best part about Prince of Tennis, or at least one of them, is just how funny Nanjirou is...
"I is Nanjirou.. chigau!"
The way he says it is priceless in the anime.
Plus, Echizen is an ass. You'll see it later on, especially when he starts talking down to people in English. Fuji is the best out of all of them though~!

Re: Manga Pub Thread v. beta
Currently Reading:
-Naruto: Despite the complaints I'm still enjoying the manga.
-Bleach: Probably my favorite manga I'm reading right now and it just keeps getting better even though the storyline is cliched.
-Tenjou Tenge: I basically follow this just for the artwork as the artist has really improved lately. I really like the complexity of the pages, but the acutal manga lacks in intense fight scenes, character development, and a good storyline. The storytelling is weak and is too eradic to follow it properly not to mention the people translating it are horrible.
-One Piece: Just started reading this and I'm loving it so far, which leaves me very hopefuly for the anime.
-X: By far my favorite Clamp manga of all time and it irritates me that I havn't finished reading it. I really don't know how many volumes it is but everything about this manga appeals to me. The artwork is beautiful while keeping a very deep and involved storyline with excellent character development. The recent volumes have started to shift into Clamp's new art style, which I'm loving very much.
-XXXholic: I love anything Clamp does and XXXholic is just another title to add to my list. I'd rather like the dark aspects of the manga but it's still very light hearted to make it enjoyable and Clamp's artwork has always been superb. Their new art style has me really intrigued.
-Tsubasa: I love the concept of creating an original storyline while using exisiting characters of past works. I would consider this my 3rd favorite title from Clamp with X and RG Veda being my first and second favorites.
-King of Bandit Jing: I bought this because I was a huge fan of the anime but the artwork is dissapointing but at the very least the designs and stories are very interesting.
-King of Bandit Jing: Twilight Chronicles: A huge improvement over the first manga series in every aspect. The artwork improved taking on a different style that is focused more on shades and tones creating for some very beautiful effects.
-Kare Kano: I read the scans and started buying the manga when they scans stopped. Great drama manga and not much else I can add to what has already been said.
-Fruits Basket: I loved the anime a lot and I read the majority of the manga when it was still being translated. The anime is on equal par to the manga but since the manga is longer there are more story arcs to flesh out the characters.
-Dogs: By far one of the best mangas I've read even though only one volume and a side story has been released. The artwork is astounding with a focus on shadows and tones. The action sequences are very dynamic and well drawn making them very exciting. The storyline was very interesting and the characters had potential. I was disheartened to hear that the series would be discontinued but recent news has said that Dogs is making a comeback so I eagerly look foward to it. I highly recommend people go out and download this manga.
I collected the japanese version of the Suikoden mangas thinking that they wouldn't get licensed but they did and the the other japanese mangas havn't been licenesed so I havn't seen anything past volume 3. I really enjoy the manga and like how they fill in the gaps between the game. The artwork is really nice but there are particular points where it seems the artist rushed through the drawings.

Re: Manga Pub Thread v. beta
The anime focus more on the whole group, where the manga just concentrate on 2 characters (and it still ongoing).
It might seem a little repetitive since a couple of the anime stories are taken directly from the manga, but there are some really nice insightful stories on vol 3 that don't get to appear in the anime (I also like how they handled the main character waking up in the manga than the anime).

Nice title, huh?
It's a side story revolving around these twin girls who are bounty hunters. That particular story had them chasing down one of the previous villains in the first volume for some hilarious antics. I love the design for the two girls.

There are actual tennis manuevers put into it. It's pretty detailed, and almost 100% of the time it isn't about who has the better special move, it is concerned with who can outhink and outhustle the other one; none of the characters are invincible at all, they all of their own faults and weaknesses. It's great drama that has a depth to it than a tennis fan can kind of appreciate, if you ignore the fact that these are junior high students.Leftover wrote:Yeah the anime is so dbz teenis.
