New game from Team ICO (finally)
Thank God it's not on the gamecube!

I like the design !
Looks as vertiginous and eerie as their previous game.
(too bad I never got to finish that one... the gameplay grew a little repetitive for my taste after a while. Maybe I should give it another try...)

Anyway, that sense of "being on your own (except for the helpless creature you must protect) in a vast, empty world" seems to be their trademark. The main character, the girl and the horse are the only living things on earth.

Re: New game from Team ICO (finally)
It "COULD" be the sequel to ICO seeing the NICO was nothing more than a codename
Edit:1up does indeed call it a sequel but famitsus doesnt

Damn. That looks pretty interesting.
Re: New game from Team ICO (finally)
As long as it isn't like Citizen: Kabuto in any way
I'm glad to see it has the same graphical style. The more important matter is the gameplay, though. If they can muster half the fun/innovation of ICO then this game will blow my ass away. Hopefully it's actually get some recognition.... and decent box art.

Famitsu.com has a bit of info about it. To sum it up, it's not a sequel - they just used their experience and technology in this game. It's an action game where you have to fight the huge statues (there's a lot of them). Your only friend is the horse and the girl you must look after is very important to you, though it is not explained by the story in game. The main character, the girl and the horse are the only living things on earth.
Game-wise, you have to "catch" the giant and climb onto it. You have to find its weak points and attack them, but the surface of the giant can be maze-like, so the game is part action, part puzzle.

Even if you're only referring to fauna, obviously this is a bit misconstrued since I see birds in that pic.Xephonic wrote:The main character, the girl and the horse are the only living things on earth.

I think it means the only things you're supposed to care about....Doom wrote:Even if you're only referring to fauna, obviously this is a bit misconstrued since I see birds in that pic. :pXephonic wrote:The main character, the girl and the horse are the only living things on earth.
At any rate, isolation of hero and girl makes it sound more or les like Ico anyway.

~*Hai! Back to Japan!
Re: New game from Team ICO (finally)
This looks amazing, I love the concept. I'm quite excited about this game.
I want to know how they portray the view of being on the giant, and whether it offers the same perspective of height in Ico, which was masterfully done. I mean at many points I was scared to move foward simply because it really did feel like I was high, it was like tricking feelings of vertigo.

Indeed, the scenes in ICO conveyed a terrible sense of depth/height. Probably the best vertigo-inducing game I've ever played. Sometimes, when moving near a precipice, I would find myself clutching the controller so that I wouldn't fall
The gameplay interface was also very intuitive... very immersive game, I must say.
I'm quite sure their next game will follow the same lines, and will probably do even better. Just imagine the same dizzy perspectives, but in a dynamic environment (like a giant...)

Re: New game from Team ICO (finally)
The concept has me very interested and the game will probably play great but I'm concerned if it'll have the same lasting feeling that Ico has. If they can tell an amazing story with depths of character development within the vague contexts of the game like Ico than I will praise this company forever.

Well, it should come as no surprise that this is just about my most anticipated game, period.
I mean, my God, never have I seen a game capture so well the feeling of "totemic entity", and that's just from one screenshot! If that fur rustles realistically in the wind as the giant moves, I may just snap!

Hi guys!
Here's something interesting from the IGN preview:
Here's something interesting from the IGN preview:
An intelligent mount that doesn't have to be told to avoid every little rock? Finally! As a further example of the horse's role, Ueda states that the horse is a wise creature and will help players by following paths and avoiding obstacles. "In this way," says Uedo, "it's a good, semi-automatic ride. Players can focus all their power on the battle."

That's really awesome. I don't think I've ever come across something like that in a game yet, where the horse will have a nice AI allowing you to battle without it.Z? wrote:Hi guys!

Re: New game from Team ICO (finally)
I'm just assuming that the gameplay will be just as solid as Ico and from the information that's been released it's looking to be that way. This time around I'm more concerned with the subtle, and artistic approach to the storyline.
