Does it have the same neighbours than the GC version?
(if so, I must get it, if only for Gaston :panda)

... Seriously, though, AC sounds perfect for a handeld systems, since it's typically a game you'll play for rather short, daily sessions (and that way it's even easier to share stuff from the game with some friends - people are more likely to bring their DS everywhere with them, than their AC memory card)
I've heard some people were a bit disappointed with the limitations of the online system, however (like, you can't just visit anyone's town, you need to know their code - I understand the security reason motivating that decision, though...)
But most critics where positive, as the game is similar to the GC version, but with more everything, I've been told (except no NES games :sadlove). And activities like designing cloth patterns are made easier by the touchpad+styleto, it seems.

[off topic]
The french version isn't out yet (will be released in march or april I think, along with the lawyer and surgeon sims).
But she might like DS+nintendogs? (or Zoo Tycoon ? XD I don't know if this zoo sim is any good, but I love the idea)

Edit : forget about Zoo Tycoon - read some reviews, looks like it sucks - and badly, at that :( (half-assed port of the PC version with a stupid interface)

[on topic]
AC is a weird game. It's more a toy (like, a dolls house, or a playmobil set) than a game actually (like the Sims and such). That kind of thing might not be everyone's cup of tea, but at least it's not half-assed : there is a lot of original content (basically, tons of everything to collect and trade and so on) in that software. Of course I know some people will be pushed back by the sheer look of the game.
But others should at least give it a try (warning, might get very addictive - especially if you enjoy doing things like decorating your house, or collecting butterflies)

I guess that AC-WW isn't compatible with e-reader either, is it? (and you probably also don't have your own little tropical island... Shame, there won't be any R'Lyeh island to visit from Arkham this time...)

Somehow or rather, I didn't like the controls. But I must say, typing letters is so much easier compared to the first one :E

So, how do the controls differs from the GC version? Do you have to use the styletto all the time, or can you use the D-pad as well? And how are the 2 screens managed?

You can use the D-Pad and the stylus for everything and anything. Either one of those to move, hold B to run/cancel/pick up items, and A to use/talk to people. Y brings up the menu where you can manage your items, friends, etc. and X brings up the map of your town.

The bottom screen is what you control (your character and menu) and the top screen is usually displaying the sky unless your in a menu which then it displays your character. Top screen is pretty boring. but you can use the slingshot and shoot down presents on the top screen which is kind of neat.

Can't figure out how to get a perfect town rating either.

Anyway I think you need to post all your info, not just friend code.

Just 'cause I'm fucking lazy and don't want to call Nintendo yet, anyone want to help me with my stupid USB WiFi thing? :p

Basically, it was working until either one of these instances:

1. My internet fucked up, so I phoned Shaw and they replaced my modem
2. My internet fucked up, so I phoned Shaw, and they fucked with my internet over the phone til it worked

This was in the space of one week, so I don't know which is was.

But, anyway... Put in the USB WiFi thingy, run the WiFi connection test on my DS. The USB is connected, BUT, I end up getting an error when it runs the connection test.

Also, as a side note, I have a router that is always causing a bucketload of problems.

Anyway...anyone want to attempt to help at all? :(

And, I checked the WiFi site with the error code (which I can't remember at the moment), and it gave me a bunch of stuff that...I really don't understand. I'm not that computer savvy. u_u

I'll ask Entropie if she knows as she's good at this sort of thing, and also has Animal Crossing and the thingy (thingy is clearly it's official name :p).

Thank you, Damien, and, eventually, Entropie. <3

And, yes, it's official name is the USB thingy. :D

EDIT: And, because I was unlazy today, the error code is 52103.

At the WiFi site, it gives me stuff that...I just don't understand. ;_;

Perhaps you should give in and call Nintendo
I dont know if I can help but tell me more about the problem
You have gotten on WiFi before you had to have your modem replaced right?

Did you try erasing the WiFi Connection information from the DS and starting from scratch? Did you try adding it again since the modem change might make the old connection information incompatible?

I enjoy ACWW more than AC so far.
Some random dialogs bits had me totally LOL. Like, one of the lines of the owl guy in the museum, about some fish from the abyss... Or some NPC making funny references to a famous Nintendo character, totally out of the blue. Or just some of the stuff some of them guys write in letters.
Also, the new accessories (hats/glasses/stuff) are really cool, perfect for cosplaying.
I don't use the stylet much for moving around, but it's really useful in menus (writing letters, selling stuff, designing stuff).
It's a bit of a pity the town are so "flat" in this game, but I like the way 3D is handled: the new perspective allows you to view much further (when looking north, that is).
And finally, the connectivity option is great. To bad you can't mail letters to other town (I think?) but apart from that, being able to visit (or even move to) other towns wirelessly is really cool (and convenient)

I'm pretty sure there are aspects of the game I still need to explore. Right now I'm just busy planting foreign fruits to make more money... Soon I'll invest in the turnip market! I'll visit other towns after I set up wifi at home (but why does that stupid USB thingy(TM) require XP to work? :()

It requires XP @_@
I'm liking and playing the game a lot too, on the way to work every day infact :E
I like how the fetch quests are reduced this time "delivering an item from a character to the person standing next to them is amusing the first few times but soon becomes a chore".

My town's going nicely but I need more fruit.
The big shop has a really fun extra in it :o

It'll be good to link up with people when possible.
