Talk about anything here that there isn't another specific forum for. General chit-chat between the SG regulars. The Moderators will be sad pandas if you spam... too much.
Just watched it. Nothing more really else to it. It was a shallow pos. Nice CG, but the story was ass. The fighting was flashy unbelievable poo. The only good thing about it was that it made me want to play FFVII (but mostly because of its music). Speaking of AC's music, what a lazy OST. I'm sure Uematsu had an immense flux of creativity when he worked on this OST. "oh man let's remix my super FFVII songs with different instruments". Oh wow, so ingenius.
And did Meteor destroy the world's physics when it blew up? I mean Cid's airship was pretty nice and all - but given most of the shit that I have seen in the movie, it was pretty useless, given that every FFVII friend could pretty much fly without any propellors or machinery.
I suggest that you do watch it, and theorize as two why two entirely different rule sets of physics exist at the same instant on the same planet (ie gravity and lack thereof).
In Ward's opinion everything sucks. If he said he liked something then I would fear it and run away.
I can't wait to see this movie...but I am going to wait to see this movie...in fact, probably won't see it until it's released in the USA (which I heard was late Novemberish?).
This is more true than the statement that Ward hates everything. It would concern me if it weren't for the fact that Joei likes Suikoden (excepting the fourth which sucks anyway).
I basically agree with everything Ward said, except I rather enjoyed the fights precisely because they were utterly ridiculous. Therefore, I found the movie to be nominally entertaining. However, I had no more than a faint urge to replay FFVII.
To be frank, neither am I. However, given the other thread, I was kinda hopeful that most SGers aren't batshit insane - which isn't the case, I'm afraid.

You know sometimes you really need to sit back and just enjoy the damn movie.
That said, I thought it was alright. You have to remember that this is based off a video game. So naturally it's safe to assume the developer will include things for the purposes of nostalgia. (such as remixed music from the game.) Honestly I don't think it would have been complete without the music.
And the fights were cool. And all believable I think, if you consider that
Climbhazzard
was (possibly) used during that one fight. Which would explain the lack of gravity.
The story wasn't all that bad. It was just very short. Not that I mind. It works out well with the storyline of FF:VII and again, it wasn't bad.
Reno and Rude were entertaining.
If you liked FF:VII, you'll probably like this. Sure, some of the music isn't original but it wouldn't have been FF:VII without it.
I semi watched the first 15-or-so minutes of the DVD with Calbrena and Man Of Txt the other day but it was on PS2 green screen so we didn't form much of an opinion.
What we saw was shit though and we were tempted to review it based on those 15 minutes
cause we all know our moms are THE referance when it comes to FFVII

really there's no excuse as to why you shouldn't. the rest of the plot is mostly "cloud (featuring the ffvii crowd) beats ppl he's already beaten in ffvii for no apparent reasons"
for a total commie that you are, i thought you'd see that you'd notice it's a crappy money grab. i guess SE is not american so it's not TEH BAD then. double standards for fun
