Yesterday Dougie told us he was going to have Thanksgiving with his family

But then also told us not to have thanksgiving dinner with our families, and stick to people you live with.

And then said he would have Thanksgiving with his immediate household, which surely is a play of word to imply he considers his kids as part of his household, but we aren't allowed to do that, but he is

You aren’t allowed to consider your kids part of your household? :? I assume you mean more like you can’t consider your parents (with whom you allegedly don’t live) part of your household?

IDK? What's a house hold? It seems clear to me, but it's 100% open to interpretation.

I'm sure he still considers his kids part of his household because he's a boomer, even if they don't live there anymore.

Basically: he was saving face for having his kids over this weekend.

Household doesn’t seem open to interpretation to me. It’s the people who live with you in your house.

I mean our Premier also said he'd be having his dinner w/ only 10 people, then only his household, and it didn't seem like a reversal of situation, so people were pressing him on it because HE MADE IT CONFUSING

I don't know about you, Damien and Fei, but I think my Premier sucks. I'm consulting you because your PM and Premier also sucks, you're experts at this.

We now have a three tiered restriction system. Tier 1, tier 2 and tier Liverpool. Manchester is in tier 2 and the restrictions are actually less tight than those we've been in since early August :shrug

We have a colour code system in Quebec and Montreal has been in CODE ROUGE for some time now.

EDIT:
Here is a not very explanatory guide!

Note that unlike the very optimistic fictional scenario illustrated, there is no green anywhere in the province currently. :upsd

Even if this is confusing is sure is clearer than the hot mess we have here because colour coding is too complicated.

We don’t have a green level because they don’t want people to think anywhere is “safe”. It’s the most sensible thing they’ve done.

I had to remind myself if this was also the case here when I initially looked at the current map. The above pretend map confirmed that green exists.

Friends in London complaining that the new rule of not being allowed to have others in your house when you can still go to a pub/restaurant are cute, considering we've had that rule since before "Eat Out to Help Out" started, when the Government were trying to encourage us to go out to pubs and restaurants.

Despite us living and working in a high risk area of the country, my manager and her manager keep telling us that they’ll sign us off as needing to come back to the office if we want. As far as I know none of us (there are 4) have taken them up on the offer. Even without the danger of cov, I actually fucking prefer not seeing anybody and I’m definitely not tempted to start fucking about with public transport at the crack of dawn now it’s dark, cold and wet out.

I get a bit irritated when some of the people pointing at others going out and doing things end up going out and doing things they don't really need to as well.

I also find it odd how people keep asking "what are you doing this weekend?" 7 months in. I'm staying home. Again. Like I do every weekend. I don't typically mind small talk but this just seems like a particularly stupid/awkward question at this point in time.

People on work calls keep asking me. I just say "nothing". The apprentice at work says he's been invited to loads of Halloween parties. Thing is, I can't say with 100% certainly that I wouldn't have still gone to parties at that age :heh

My boss will give me quick calls (like 5 min) to check in a couple of times a week, or sometimes about very specific things.

We probably have things that would be similar to team meetings maybe once a month? Less? Only as needed (and usually due to meeting with outside parties, not just us).

I'm thankful I'm not tied up with meetings all the time. Having smaller face to face checkins might actually be nice though (social aspect - just makes things feel a bit more real than emailing all the time).

I end up having to hear people's hot takes on how the government should be handling the pandemic, mostly from people that have kids and think the most important thing is somebody else looks after their kids during the day.

You could write a book over the shit we, collectively, haven't learned over the last 20 years.

Climate change is an existential threat, cops are violent, racist, and corrupt, spying on people who've done nothing wrong is bad, fascism is bad, don't elect narcissistic liars to prime minister/president, don't hold a referendum amongst uninformed laypeople about complicated economic policy, trickle-down economics only enriches the way too wealthy, people who say they hate socialism conflate it with authoritarianism and, for inexplicable reasons, wind up supporting authoritarians...

Our numbers here rapidly increased last week. I think about a month ago we were in the 200s. Last week we broke 400+ and 500+. So on Saturday they had a special conference to announce a 2 week restriction (no socializing, no indoor gym classes, basically).

But because the messaging is nuanced instead of firm (ie: if you live alone you can still visit people but keep it small and safe) people are confused and probably won't care.

Less shitty is an incredibly low bar, given *gestures vaguely in all directions*.
