The Drug thread - Where are you?
Drugs are an every day influence for some of us, for some we have given it up long ago, yet for some of us we've been users for a long time. If you think I am talking about Marijuanna, then you are wrong. I was the biggest pothead (or at least that was my reputation, but I was the smartest and tricked people without actually being at that level) but would I move onto other drugs? No, hell no I thought that gateway shit was bullshit. If you stay away from people like that, then its all good. I came to a harsh realization that most are too weak to stop after pot, at least for alot of their youth. But even me, I don't care how hot she is, that makes me angry how crazy they are for some drugs, and they will do ANYTHING for it. It was a down period in my life, because my best friends (who could afford it) were getting into some MESSED up drugs, and even some of the more addictive substances that were becoming legal in the form of painkillers were taking of hold of only "pot smokers." I couldn't believe how many pure "potsmokers" or cool people who were just once kids being dorky playing video games were now superficial and hooked on addictive substances...
It was sad, but I moved on without any real friends after college, I would rather leave then live such a crazy superficial life of the rich Texas kids. Its crazy, how such crazy lives exist in such a Conservative state such as Texas and yet are more crazy than most other palces. Its like that rich conservatism of the rich in the south leads to the kids screwing their lives over even more when they get to that state. I just saw a kid who used to play street fighter with me every day go to jail for over 10 years for being retarded. He wasn't ghetto or anything, in fact his parents were filthy rich, but who cares, the fact is he was once a normal young kid, Now look at him. Its weird when you see what drugs do to people. Your parents have always warned you of those "people" and "drugs," but did you ever actually realize that they weren't really stupid geezers and actually right? I remember when my mother would warn me about people and drugs and what could happen. I was laughing inside, thinking she didn't understand our "generation" and the youth of today. Man was I wrong.
Many of my friends were "potheads" back in High School, but we always made little pacts that we would never do anything else... Me, I stayed clean besides the ocassional pot smokes here and there, because I couldn't live my life without messing it up. I'm the kind who can't function at all, especially among people (on it). So I believed in doing pot in moderation because it was amazing, the kind of stuff you would think of (the perception was different, especially TV) was crazy, but I don't think it was worth frying your brain as often as you could to escape reality.
What I want to know, is what you do to escape reality? Do you smoke the ocassional pot? Or do you play video games excessively? I know I have done both in my period of teenage-hood, but how has it affected you in the adult life? I am asking this because I stumbled upon some "crack headish" girls today that used to be good friends... They were so coked up that I couldn't even talk to them, of course they were also insulting me and everything else non-stop. I remember one of the girls was super intellectual, one of the actually really only "mature" girls (like they claim they are) who would never give into the superficial addictive nature of humans. But when I saw her tonight, man was it saddening. I knew that she was screwing drug dealers for drugs, and it was sad. I have seen this constantly within the last few years, and I don't know how much I can handle before I give in...I just want to know your opinions. What is your experience with drugs?

"Only in the absolute stillness of the mind can truth be obtained..."
My internet addiction and slight vodka addiction are enough for me thank you very much.
Obviously I tried other things in my teenage years as everybody does, but didn't like the feeling. And because I know I'm crazy I wouldn't even take legal drugs. My mom once prescribed me some shit that gave me really bad trips and really screwed up my life for a while, so no more kthx.
And some people I knew at school are in jail now because of drug dealing, and most of them used to be decent kids.
Also have a couple of friends smoking pot daily to reduce their depression/stress/anxiety problems, and I'm a bit concerned about that, but some of them have been doing that for years and not moving to anything worse, so... Anyway when you try to talk to them about their problem they won't listen, so what can you really do? I think the only thing you can do is keep in touch to make sure that they see people outside of their drug-related 'friends', and make sure things don't go worse.
Anyway, yeah.. Drug addiction, and addictions in general are bad for you.

Re: The Drug thread - Where are you?
Since I never tried that sort of stuff, I can't say that I have a drug addiction. I guess that I would have to say that if I had an addiction, then I would have to agree and say the Internet perhaps.
I like drugs.
I used to smoke pot daily, but then I ran out of money and had to slow down. It also lost its novelty long ago, and frankly I started to get sick of it. I still smoke it, but only under certain circumstances. I like to get stoned and watch a movie, or smoke a bowl to wind down from an evening of work/partying.
As for other drugs: I'm a drunk, I smoke cigarettes, and I've experimented with basically everything I've managed to get my hands on. I could list them all, but that would make for an unnecessarily long post. Most of them were one-time things anyway. I went through a short phase where I started to get somewhat into coke, but I stopped myself before it became a habit, and now I don't do it at all.
I don't use drugs as an escape from reality, I use them as a taste of some alternate perspectives. I enjoy seeing what the world looks like through different eyes. I also simply like to have a good time. I'm at the point in my life where I have the freedom to party and to gain experiences that, as far-fetched as it might sound to some of you "drugs are bad mmkay" people, ultimately shape who I am. I've come to a better understanding of what my life is all about by fucking with my reality. And I'm not addicted to anything but cigarettes.
I might be a little slower at thinking on my feet than I used to be, but I haven't yet destroyed anything I'll miss. And my partying days are beginning to slow down. I'll end up just as comfortable as the people who turned their nose up at my lifestyle.

Re: The Drug thread - Where are you?
yeah I started smoking pot when I was in middle school, and a little bit into my freshman year of HS but stopped when I very nearly got caught by my folks. By stopped I mean got rid of all of my bongs and pipes, and stopped buying it completely. I didn't stop smoking it say at parties and get togethers, but that was very seldom. I, like isildur, have experimented with a lot of different stuff, but I don't make a habit out of it, nor would I ever pay good money to buy any of it. But if I'm at a party and everyone's having a good time then im pretty open to doing whatever. It doesn't control my life because I don't party very often (mainly at special times like new years, spring break, right after finals, summertime etc.) I've actually stopped doing stuff for the time being because they've started random testing at work, and I refuse to let my name/record be tarnished with a positive drug test. I still drink however, though not daily. I don't drink at home much, though I'm enjoying a bacardi and coke rite now :E I'm more of a social drinker which is good, because if there's one thing I can't control its getting wasted and going crazy.
getting back to drugs, I agree with a lot of fire2ash's points. In my life, of all the people I've met who either smoke pot or do coke/acid/oxy/ecstacy I think all but maybe 5 or 6 of them are complete and total degenerates. the kind of people who, after a party, I feel ashamed that I even hung out with them the next day. people who I wouldnt even let into my house to use the bathroom for fear that they'd steal my toothbrush (and yes, this has happened to one of my friends)
anyways, regardless those 5 or 6 people who ARE cool, are people that I love to party with cuz we can all get fucked up, without having to worry about one of them like, stealing my wallet or something. so for as long as im in college im gonna continue to party and have a good time, since after that ill prolly become a boring white collar slave, who drives a camry.

Re: The Drug thread - Where are you?
Never done drugs (other than the one I got prescribed for a sickness
) and also never done smoking. Coming from a family with a weak health history, I decided form very young not to mess it up even more than it already is. Hell my only good side of the family with good genes like 80% of them that have died was because of lung cancer from all the smoking they did
Alcohol in the other hand, I usually dirink here and there and at parties, but don't get that much wasted anymore.
Have a nice day

Re: The Drug thread - Where are you?
Im still an avid pot smoker after several close run ins with the law.
I personally feel like I function better when I smoke put. I am much calmer, I am much more sociable, and I can really focus. I wouldn't say I smoke to escape reality becuase I have pretty much participated in every aspect of everyday life both stoned and sober and I personally feel that I get much more joy out of the things I do when high. I am not here to endorse the good ol mary jane, because Ive seen it's effects do damage in peoples lives when they focus on smoking pot and doing nothing else.
I consider pot a helpful additive to life rather than an addictive mind altering substance.

lol thanks guys you brought some joy to my otherwise fucked up life. Its about 3:30 am November 28th over here and I just came back from a reallly fucked up night, and I can't help but feel lonely. I was crying on my way here, driving 120 mph down the freeway hoping something would happen, but it seems like I live a blessed life. I'm tired of this shit, someday I will let my fury out on the real world
Until then drugs have seriously fucked up most of my friends, even alcohol.
What's sad is most of the dudes of the party I was at were jelous of me, trying to act all hard. What they didn't realize is that I didn't give a FUCK and I had real guys backing me up, not wannabe gangsters. Even more I don't give a flying fuck, someone can throw a gun in front of me and I will kill them if I knew they were bullshitting and wouldn't pull the trigger. Its sad, but they have pushed me to the edge and I DONT CARE anymore...
They are all addicted to something, yet I'm as sober as can be. I'm so sensitive emotionally that it hurts me more than it hurts them. But I'm here to enforce this shit, so be it.

I am addicted to the internet...that's a drug right?
Re: The Drug thread - Where are you?
I have done most stuff and still do pot on a regular basis. Morality has never been my forte. I believe in doing something if the motivation is there.
Re: The Drug thread - Where are you?
I would love to try weed given the chance but I live in Singapore, so...
Drugs are
because it addicts, and I hate being reliant on something so expensive, illegal and... It's j

Yeah, just look at George W Bush! He was a coke-snortin' beer guzzlin' party-hard kind of guy, and look what happened to him! He turned born-again on us and became President of the USA!fire2ash wrote:Its crazy, how such crazy lives exist in such a Conservative state such as Texas and yet are more crazy than most other palces. "George Bush snorts coke to satisfy his "cravings". Feeling rejuvinated, he decides to drink a lot of beer and go driving! George gets pulled over by a cop. He gets arrested. George's rich dad bails him out, and in a questionable series of events, George W Bush is elected president! Snort coke and become president!
Make it happen, with cocaine!"
Now to be serious, I've never actually done any sort of drugs. I drink on occasion, but it's very rare when I do. My way of relaxing and getting away from the real world is playing Ultimate Frisbee. It's not just any sport, it's specifically frisbee. When I'm playing, I'm in sort of a euphoric zen-like state of mind. It's just me and the frisbee, and that's pretty much it. I just forget everything when I'm playing it, and I really never want to stop.
When I worked at Philmont, I worked with a lot of Rangers who were pot-smokers. One of the things they would do on their days off was to go to Taos, New Mexico "to find religion". Religion was the name of a hippy who basically had the drug monopoly in Taos, and was the person the Rangers would get their weed from. This was actually the first time I'd ever been around people who were actually smoking pot. In my case, we drove down to a river with a bridge overhanging it, and they'd smoke it in the car. This was how I found out that I was allergic to marijuana smoke, so I just sat under the bridge while the two other rangers I came down with finished up, and Febreezed the car down. I never went back to Taos with them, because that was all they went there to do.
I was sort of disappointed that they smoked pot, but at the same time, I really didn't care. My view is that marijuana is only illegal because tobacco came first, and big tobacco would just HATE to have legitimate competition, so they pay off the politicians to keep it from becoming legal. >_>

Yeah Martial Arts is where the escape of reality is for me.
As for cocaine and George W Bush, I've known so many kids like that. One of my friends was arrested the other night, had coke, pot, and was drunk. Also he had 2 warrants out for his arrest. Yet he also happens to be the son of the biggest lawyer in Texas, so of course he was bailed out within 30 minutes ($3000). Whats worse is that he has even more warrants now and guess what, he doesn't give a fuck. He does everything, snorts coke to come back up from pot or oxicotton, then drinks to calm back down. He's a hopeless kid.
On the other side, I had a friend who was only a pot smoker. This guy, at the age of 14 looked like a fucking model, not a girly one but a manly one. He was extremely social and athletic, he was the "All American Badass" if you know what I mean, and he wasn't so cocky to the point where he was stupid. He was also incredibly intelligent as well as in excellent shape. Anyways it started with pot, his home life was fucked up I guess (his dad). Around mine and his junior year, he left his parents and became a drifter, moving from house to house. Stealing and deceiving from the people who loved and took him in (he happened to move into my neighborhood, Highland Park, a stupid beverly hills of Texas btw this is the Bush's hometown). During this time, he was also getting into worse, and worser drugs. He went from being All American intelligten pimp to being a low degenerate Ice head (Ice, the Drug) who drifted from random house to house. No GED (he dropped out), and not going to college.
I don't see a problem with pot as long as its not abused. See, I realized when I did pot that it altered my perception to such an amazing state, sure couldn't talk or function socially, but my mind thought of incredible things. You realize shit you would never of thought of before. The only times I did it was when time was right shortly afterwards, like Indians with Paotey (dont know how to spell it) .I was more of a social pot smoker (although everyone who DIDN'T know me thought I was a major one). I don't like it when people defend weed and they don't admit the damage its done to their life. I defend it, but only to a certain extent. I'm not going to defend it if pot is the reason why I have no job and sit at home eating watching TV.

I smoke some pot now and again, but after smoking it so much in high school, it just wore down for me. I used to do some heavier shit in high school, but got out of it the hard way...taking too many speed pills one day and landing in the hospital will do that to someone. I havn't touched it since.
I do drink a lot of caffiene tho(not enough to make it feel like speed pills however..totally different beast anyway), smoke ciggs pretty bad, and am a heavy drinker...well, weekends anyway. I try not to drink during the week unless its Little Friday(wed night). Even then I dont go as excessive that night. But I have been notorious, even among Finnish metalheads, for making it up on Friday and Saturday, usually consuming in two nights what most people are even able to consume in a week.
I havn't felt i NEED to however, so I think I am ok there. If I dont wanna drink I don't, if I do, I do, if I can't, no biggie. I just like to on my weekends.

Coffee and Nyquil for me.
Never had pot or whatever else. Not scared of it or anything; just never really felt a need to try it.

Cigarettes are my only addiction, but sad to say I would take a lot more drugs if I could get my hands on them easier. It feels extremely pathetic to say that I would potentially endanger my life if I could but hopefully I have just enough sense to stay safe around substances and merely enjoy them rather than abuse them.

Re: The Drug thread - Where are you?
I don't know what to think about the issue. There are so many factors at play in what makes this a problem, both in the violation of rights in restricting someones freedoms to do to themselves what they wish, as well as the damage it does to people, and their reasons for doing it relating to different problems in society. I could turn this into a debate about capitalism but what's the point?
I used to smoke pot occassionally for the better part of a few years starting in the middle of highschool. This continued untill last year, just before I started living on my own I used pot pretty regularly. Not to the point of doing it several times a day, or every day even, but enough that it was consistant and eventually it accumulated to the point of just getting me down and keeping me there. I do not attribute this result to the drug, but rather to my development as a person, the issues in my life which I was thinking about, the changes which occurred and even the realizations that pot helped to stimulate. Eventually it was doing me more harm than good, and I cut down and down untill more rescently I all but gave it up completely. I've had it twice maybe in the last two months and I know how to recognize it's affect on me, and I know when it's good or bad, and I'm just back to special occasion like when I started. I need to be able to think for a while in other words.
Otherwise I think it's a great drug, but like anything, you are responsible for how you use or abuse it. It's not really addictive, although you can come to rely on it for emotional purposes, but you can't really blame it for any harm come to the world. Potheads don't exactly get high and start barfights.

Re: The Drug thread - Where are you?
I smoked pot a couple times during the summer, just because I was out with some friends who wanted to smoke it. So I tried it out. I found it was actually pretty relaxing and made for a lot of random halarity if anything, but mostly I just wanted to sit around, watch TV, and crack jokes.
That said, I will never try anything else other than it. I'm not one who thinks highly of drugs in any such way, and the pot smoking thing was mostly isolated. Havn't done it since, though I wouldn't have a problem with it now and then. Anything else though is a definate no from me.

In this crazy old world that we live in today where power seems to have all the say, people are afraid that they might fail so they hide in drugs to feel safe.
So I look deep inside where the answer might hide and turn to the young of today.
I say "Cummon kids, cummon and give it a try and you show us the way".
Because we're magic, magic people you see? You're magic people to me!
So throw your hands up high and let your voices cry "WE'RE GLAD TO BE DRUG FREE"

E makes you incredibly horny
Clearly the biggest problem is the abuse. I don't see experimentation as a problem as long as your not abusing it. It doesn't matter how messed up you think your life is, if you can't face them and handle them on your own then you are incredibly weak. I was depressed (and still am) and quite pissed off at alot of things for a while, but never, not once did I have a problem saying no to any drug.
What makes me angry is what it does to girls. Even pot seems to turn some girls into some of the biggest HO's, ever! Especially when they realize they can get free drugs by practically selling "favors." I have seen too many good hearted girls get into this warped twisted world. I had a cokehead lecture me the other day on how much more mature girls were than guys (which is a stupid argument, because subject girls might be smarter/mature than guys, there is always something else that they are retarded in). Bitch please, if you suck cock for coke you are NOT more mature than me, and never will be. I have also seen alot of these girls falling for "bad boys" who are not "bad" really, they just have drug connections. Ugh.
