Does anybody know if Seed Destiny aired this week? I havn't seen the raw for it yet and it usually comes out on Saturdays. The only explination I can think of is that it got delayed due to the Earthquake in Japan recently.

Yeah, it was the earthquake that delayed/cancelled it.

Kenshin OVA are indeed a must see

And I guess he would like Macross + as well...
Anyway, you should try animes with silly french dubs wardboi, soe of them are so badly translated that they are hilarious (that's what happens when they decide to show animes like City Hunter or Hokuto no Ken in a kids' program
)

Calbrena's avatar is freaking me out.
@ Mai-Hime episode 4.
It's just a stupid filler episode but it was quite comical and you still get a fight sequence at the end so I'm happy.
Finally, got around to watching Top wo Nerae 2 and surpassed my expectations of the show. Granted, I wasn't expecting much but this was a very impressive show and redeems Gainax a bit. The animation was beautiful and the one particular mech fight was animated quite nicely. I love the choice of voice actresses/actors (you can't go wrong with Maaya Sakamoto) and the artwork as well as the character designs was great. I want the artbook already!
Sokyou no Fafner is really getting interesting lately. I really enjoyed episodes 13 and 14 and the storyline is moving at a good pace adding more depth to the series. The characterization is also moving along quite nicely, which is great to see considering all of the characters at the beginning of the series had any real distinction between them. Before I forget again, I think the voice actress for Rikku in FFX is in this anime.

Fafner is nice. The ripoffs are still there, and I'm not sure I'll ever be able to shake off the Seed clones, but it definitely holds its own weight if you haven't seen the big mecha series.
Anyone seen Rozen Maiden? I like it.
Ali Project songs are too catchy, even if they are all the same.
Grenadier 2 was better... I guess...
Edit: Yakitate 2... hahaha they're using Takehito Koyasu (aka Fool) for Ryou
(I'm pretty sure john mentioned this already though)

Ok, I loved kannaduki no miko.
I put aside my being bitter at the few bits of fan service and stereotypes / cliches what have you, and I just sat back and totally enjoyed the show, especially the second half, which had me grinning real big because it felt like yet another anime pulled out from the early nineties, when they gave enough of a damn to go with high production values even if the show wasn't entirely original.
And my god is the music ever good. It was a HUGE factor in my liking the first episode. I probably would have stopped half way if it wasn't as good as it was. The story does feel a bit rushed (just the pasts of the three main characters) but I don't care.
So yeah, I very much like it Doom, thanks for suggesting it. Already downloading episode two.
(Don't you dare reply with :>, :], :} or otherwise bud).

No, past 9 isn't out.
... :>
But anyway, I LIKE the rushed feel in Kannaduki. I like how they got so much done in just one ep. The track that plays during the first half of the second half of ep 1 (the traditional sounding one) is awesome. The op/ed are arguably the best this season (except for the Gankutsuou ed, perhaps). I know it's a mishmash of cliches, but I like the WAY they mishmash it. Great animation/music doesn't hurt either. Zing~

beck's i'll grant you. bleach's is good but i don't buy into the craze (note that i didn't like viva rock as much as everyone else did either), harukanaru's is eh, initial d's = BIAS. i personally give credit to school rumble and rozen maiden, too, and of course seed's.

Re: Ongoing Anime Discussion (now with October 2004)
Ok... I've realized I severely need to cut down on the series I'm trying to keep up:
Kurau: PM
Gundam Seed-D
Samurai 7
Samurai Champloo (not much of a problem since its been delayed)
Fafner (really need to catch up on this one
)
Beck (reading up on the manga, and the OP is catchy
!)
I've been testing out:
UPS
MoO
My-HiME (very fun
)
Kaleidostar (i gave up on it, but a download-challenged friend is desperate to see it
)
Count of Monte Cristo
I guess it doesn't sound as much as what others are watching, but I'm in need of cutting back the shows... So anyone got suggestions on what I should keep and what I should delete?

Unfortunately, those are all very good series that you have listed so it sucks that you would want to drop a couple of them. Well you can definitely drop Samurai Champloo since it's been delayed for quite some time. Personally, I would drop Fafner even though I think it's a pretty good show but if you've seen Eva, or RahXephon then Fafner doesn't bring anything new to the table. The only animes that I would highly recommend that you keep are Kurau, G-Seed Destiny, Kaliedo Star, and MoO. Everything esle I'm either quite impartial, havn't seen the anime, or heavily biased.

Re: Ongoing Anime Discussion (now with October 2004)
@ Leftover:
Actually, slow releases would more than help, since I can catch up without worrying about new releases.
@ Killey:
I'm a bit unimpressed with Fafner in general, though people have been mentioning some good payoff much later in the show. I'm not liking the damn lines on their faces though. Eva and Rahx are better suited for animation quality and introductions, having only seen the first few eps of both series.
So, I saw the first three episodes of UPS, and I’m enjoying it, though not as much as I expected. I guess after reading Lord of the Flies last year, I’m looking towards more darker things when I’m watching/reading stranded island stories. UPS is more “sci-fi”ish than fantastical, if anyone can understand that. The animation really reminds me of old school anime. I’ll skip out on this one too.

@ Henchman:
Kurau: PM - your call
Gundam Seed-D - keep
Samurai 7 - keep
Samurai Champloo - go for it
Fafner - what Killey said, even though it does get significantly better
Beck - if you read on the manga then I don't see why you couldn't drop the anime
UPS - depends on where you are in the show, it ends at 52 and 50 just came out... so if you're rather far along, you should just finish it up; if not, I still wouldn't delete it if you eventually want to get back to it because I guarantee that this will become RARE
MoO - you can put it off for now but don't give up on it :O!
My-HiME - well I suppose you wouldn't want to give up this one (nor would 99% of the people here it seems), even though at this point I find it rather expendable
Kaleidostar - yeah, if you've already given up on it then it's okay
Count of Monte Cristo - keep
@ Cal:
not sure that Ward'll like Esca... so I dunno

Re: Ongoing Anime Discussion (now with October 2004)
I made a list, after thinking about how to deal with the stackful of anime to watch:
Keeping:
Gundam Seed D (just started, so no problem)
My-HiMe (just started)
Gankutsuou/CoMC (just started, surprise, surprise!)
Kurau PM (tough decision, since im close to updated, but I feel the need to hold off on it)
In Consideration:
UPS (only to see where it'll go, seeing as the first three eps didn't show enough, and Doom says it'll be a rarity soon.)
Samurai 7 (this is so close to being dropped, and its on my comp because I had too much time and too few shows in the summer. It is enjoyable, though, ill watch up on a few more eps and see if its still worth it)
Beck (to see what direction its going for a 26-episode series of an ongoing manga, and how the music will be.)
Dropping:
MoO (since the releases are slow, I'm pretty sure I can catch up on this without missing too much, and less series means less hassle on my drives XP)
Kaleido Star (my friend can fend for himself
)
Samurai Champloo (no need to catch up)

It's hard for me to recommend stuff because I don't know what you have or haven't seen... but,
Full series of the fantasy/shounen/me type that should be relatively easy to find:
- Juuni Kokki (very good fantasy but it's 45 eps, not 24-26!)
- Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
- Last Exile
- Wolf's Rain
- Gungrave
- Planetes
- Fullmetal Alchemist (51 eps)
Some good 13 ep shows:
- Hundred Stories
- Paranoia Agent
- Midori no Hibi
- Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu? (better if you've seen the original FMP)
Note that I only listed relatively recent shows, since again, I don't know how many of the 'classics' you've watched.

I saw Last Exile on your reoommendation, and it made me wet
All the stuff on that list is US-licensed, though?... (poor little european)
Is it time to seek out obscure torrents?

Re: Ongoing Anime Discussion (now with October 2004)
even if you guys thing esca is super i seriously doubt its for an anime nub. its really not that superb, especially if you dont dig the whole fantasy mecha thing
i dont' dig the whole fantasy mecha thing at all, but then that's not what the show's about, it's just an awesome bonus.
Just finished 5 and 6 of Maria-sama spring. I still can't get over how the series just manages to fit the definition of beauty somehow. I also find myself so eager to keep watching NOT to find out what happens next, but to simply spend time with the characters of the show, and to literally take in all of their personalities.
And I must have seen smoochies in episode 4 like fifty times already, but I still can't get over how 'awww' it is.

Escaflowne is amazing because it has the perfect balance of action, storyline, characterization, drama, and mechs. It utilizes all 26 episodes to create a very compelling story with no filler crap in between. Plus, you can't go wrong with Yoko Kanno doing the score.

I love you avatar Mikey it's by far the best avatar here.
One of these days I'm going to find myself giving and watching Maria-sama. I will admit that the artwork to Maria is beatiful and the opening and ending pieces were particularly impressive, at least from what I can remember.

Download speed for Macross Zero 5 torrent is atrocious.
Was stuck at 11 dl/20 ul before cutting to switch to xdcc bots (still capped at 20-40 kbps) How the fuck do some of you leech new files so fast?

well, it took me a while to warm up to maria-sama too... hell i remember very clearly denouncing it enthusiastically after ep 1, but... here's to having made up for all the times i stuck with all the bad shows

Secrets make me a :sadpanda. Can you fill me in? :p Waiting for flooded bots in #anbudom to list their Macross Zero 5 is no fun.

Re: Ongoing Anime Discussion (now with October 2004)
Actually, I was getting it from ANBU|Aeris.
Might have something to do with my recently installed router but I thought I've configured it to work with BT.
