What did you ever learn on fiction TV shows?

Talk about anything here that there isn't another specific forum for. General chit-chat between the SG regulars. The Moderators will be sad pandas if you spam... too much.

Post by WaWard »

So my gf was watching house. A santa with a colitis comes in, and he complains about his bowels, like I often do on SG. Then House prescribes him smokes. I was like wtf, this can't be real. Well I'm wrong. Nicotine relaxes bowels and helps for colitis flareups. WTF.

Have you ever learned something stupid from a fiction show before? Movies and novels also apply.

I learned that spin-off shows that feature lesbianism inevitably become more popular then the original show that spawned it.

Oh! But Hercules was campier than Xena, therefore funnier, and thus better.

I learn practically everything from non traditional means such as TV

You see I have trouble reading stuff like textbooks and forms due to a concentration disorder I have(not a joke)

But my recall is unbelievable otherwise. I also have sort of a mapping memory

Example
At one point I could literally draw you all of GTA3 or vice city's maps just off the top of my head with no help

Friends taught me that if I become a struggling actor I can still live in a fancy appartment in Manhattan if I share with a Data Processor.

Friends taught me that no matter what my friends will be there for me for up five years before we all have babies and start families of our own.

Friends taught me a world without ceilings.

Friends taught me how to make profit from stupid people by spliting one season into three DVD's even though one disc can hold an entire season.

Some of it's true, I guess.

I thought I was the only one who hated CSI. I thought it was really popular. I just dont get it. It's like a cop drama mystery show without any mystery, right?

Though for a serious answer

courtroom drama like law and order probably taught me a lot more about how the courtroom works than I normally would have known

It's true for me.

Homer and Marge are in bed.
Homer: I wanna snuggle.
Marge: I don't feel like snuggling.
Homer: What's that got to do with it?

Genius.
