Kaleido Star Once Again
I think by now most of us already know what Kaleido Star is so I won't go to the lengths of giving a brief description of what the show is about. Since I've finished the series ahead of time I can safely say that most of you will not be dissapointed by the ending at all. It lives up to the hype that the animes builds it up to be and even surpasses my expecatations of it. With the series done the only thing left of Kaleido Star is an OAV that is still in production but it's due for a release sometime soon. From the images I've seen in Newtype and Megami magazine the OAV seems to focus on Rosetta.
The DVD's are currently up to volume 4 which brings us to episode 18 (if I remember right) and I just recently watched it. My impressions of that DVD is that the editor needs to be shot as there were too many grammar&spelling errors, missing words, and typos within the subtitles. Otherwise, the quality of the DVD is really good. Anyways, I believe that the fansubs are up to episode 38 so discuss anything about the series.

Re: Kaleido Star Once Again
because I'm sitting on the powder keg of information, right?
I was super happy when Yuri showed up. It still amazes me how I can get so into this show when it's nothing but the circus. I mean they're swinging in the air and jumping around, what's the big deal? All the other anime out there are fucking saving the world, fighting in huge robots, learning about love, and here I am getting worked up like NUTS just to see a few girls in leotards prance around and fly through the damn air for OTHER people's entertainment.
I couldn't be fucking happier.

I couldn't be fucking happier.

It doesn't hurt that the performances themselves are highly entertaining with their complexity, beauty, immagery, and symbolism. The build up to the performaces are highly entertaining to watch that it makes it that much more statisfying when the performance quality reflects the time spent in building it up.

I just never expected this much drama to come from a fricking circus. I mean sure you get upset because you can't do your act, but this is something totally different. There are several moral issues being thrown back and forth, and poor Sora's gotten cocked up in the head because of it.
:S

i love KS :< ... i think the reason its so great is not that it's about a circus, but rather the characters in the "cirus" (im not quite comfortable using the word circus
)
But mainly, it's just about Sora.. i mean, she's just such a great character... you can really feel for her in nearly every aspect in the show, she's just so glompable

Right there is why Kaleido Star appeals to me so much. The character development is excellent and you feel for each character within the series. The best part is that the characters are compelling and provide a variety of emotions for viewers, which very little animes manage to do nowadays.

that's because they had the scripts for 34-37, but they dont have anymore scripts ready, so now they actually need to xlate it... that's why 34-36 was so fast, due to available scripts, i forgot who, but i talked to someone in #F-R that that's what i was told...Doom wrote:They've been slow lately... wtf are they doing? It's like they burned out really quickly. :z

Are you dicetomato of Rice-Box? I haven't really been following their releases since Witch Hunter Robin but I really liked the job done on that series.
Re: Kaleido Star Once Again
I remember all the discussions between R-B's subs and HQA&Anbus subs for WHR.
Re: Kaleido Star Once Again
Thanks.so I won't go to the lengths of giving a brief description of what the show is about.
God these threads are stupid. You'd never get away with that in a gaming thread.
Re: Kaleido Star Once Again
Actually, he only said that because this is just a continuation of the original thread on sektor seven. Though I do agree killey should have at least written SOMETHING about the show.Joei wrote:Thanks.so I won't go to the lengths of giving a brief description of what the show is about.

Anyways, I'm FINALLY catching up on KS.
The more I watch, the more I want May to die a horrible horrible death (preferably by falling and breaking her neck when she tries to show Sora up).
<no_name> god
<no_name> May is such a fucking whore
<no_name> she needs to die like.. now
<no_name> she's fucking up my kaleido star ;_;
Re: Kaleido Star Once Again
I am going to dl all of Kaleido Star again from DO. Thank God for DO.
Re: Kaleido Star Once Again
By the end of the series all resentment towards any of the characters is lost.
Considering how Doom had an entire thread dedicated to locating anime resources such as information and where to download you think people would take advantage of those and actually look up information that they want.
Here's your synopsis so I hope your happy.
The brief description doesn't even describe what makes Kaleido Star good.

Anyways, I need some help in getting Kaleido Star 52(the OAV) to work as the sound refuses to work on me. I think it has to do something with the WMV9 encoding but I have other file types that work on me.Naekino Sora is a 16 year old girl who yearns for the "Kaleido Stage" she once saw with her now deceased parents. And so, alone she sets off to America from Japan to go for an audition.
However, Sora arrives at the audition late and misses her chance of a lifetime.... But that is just the start of the challenges that she must face to become a top entertainer. As she works hard on beautiful stages and goes through times of discouragement, the conscience of a professional awakens in her.

Re: Kaleido Star Once Again
That's what I like about Sora in the later half of the series. No matter how tough the challenges get she always battles back in her own way.
Re: Kaleido Star Once Again
something is wrong with you[/spoiler]
Re: Kaleido Star Once Again
lmao I didn't notice until i came back 90 mins later
Leftover wrote:God damn I felt so bad for her. So, so, so bad. The way she flew up there and cryed in mid air, and the face of sorrow she had on pulled on my heart like the series has done so many times before.
Aww Sora, you poor thing.
Even though it was a very sad scene I couldn't help but think how beautiful the act looked even though Sora messed it up. There was something very ellegant and beautiful with Sora in the air with her tears trickling down.

If I download this when I get back, and it sucks, I blame Mikey for wasting precious time I could have been watching Maria-sama and HYD
Thanks for the synopsis tho Killey~ I just was hoping to get an opinion from someone here who might give me a bit more background than anime-nfo's short little thing. That's why I asked, to see if I could get a better feel for why you guys even like the show

You can't really describe what's so great about Kaleido Star to someone who has never seen it and expect them to get excited about the show. You really have to expereience the show for yourself in order to really appreciate the beauty. The same goes for most any other anime, though.j0hn Ayanami wrote:If I download this when I get back, and it sucks, I blame Mikey for wasting precious time I could have been watching Maria-sama and HYD

Look j0n, don't expect anything. Just watch the show and take it in, and if you don't like it that's fine. Just don't go lambasting it afterwards.
@ Killey:
Yeah I agree with you on that in full. It took me by surprise, especially when they had 'demonic' shot to contrasts against the elegance of the act and sorrow she was displaying.

Maria-sama aka JAV
CHOBITS IS BETTER THAN KALEIDO STAR

Not only does Garbo double posts but he spams non-sensical crap while doing so.
I absolutely loved that contrast between the Demon Spiral and the Angel Act (tenshi no waza). It gave this sense of two opposing ideals as both groups of people have placed everything they belived in into their acts. It really did place that much more into the outcome of this competition, at least for me. I remember thinking that the series really placed everything into this showdown and was wondering how they could expand the series further when the outcome is so close. I always knew that the Angel Act would be the final act of the show but just how will it be executed after all of this.Leftover wrote: @ Killey:

Re: Kaleido Star Once Again
First of all, it's not nonsensical, because they're both true.
Secondly, those two posts are 3 hours apart, as you would notice that most everybody does the same thing when their posts are not immediately edited.
