As much as I hate for every news post to be an announcement of SG Day, this news post is an announcement of SG Day.
As with the previous couple of years, the idea behind Square Gamer Day is for past members to come back for 24 (or more) hours of nostalgia, spam and general thread necromancy. It worked well in 2015 and 2016 and I'm confident it'll work well again.
Stick it in your diary and tell every old SG member you know that Square Gamer Day 2016 is on Saturday
18th March !

Why March instead of May? I forget.

Something about having it before the 10th anniversary of the lp2pw thread. I'm not exactly sure why we aren't doing it a week later though.

The date was set to increase the post count in the LP2PW thread, ahead of its 10th anniversary. That was back when we thought it'd be difficult to get it to 200 pages.

It was an understandable naïveté. Who knew Trump would sign that EO forcing us to post so much.

Nothing naive about a contingency plan! I think late March is better than May anyway. The weather outside won't be quite as good, so there'll be less temptation to do IRL stuff on SG Day

The weather was pretty awesome last year in
mid March.
Also, we move to summer time on the 12th, and you'll still be on winter time. Doesn't it make SG day one hour shorter than it ought to be? Or is that the other way around?

Doesn't really matter. Nobody posted until late in the day UK time last year.

It's the day after St Patrick's Day, which might mean it's hangover day for some folks. Although, that might work out for us to if it makes them inclined to stay in, as long as they don't sleep away the whole day instead of posting.

The only people I can imagine celebrating St Patrick's Day are 18-22 year old students. Do we have any of those here?

The RDM is like 1/8th Irish. He should totally celebrate St. Patrick's day. Think of all those snakes the guy dealt with! They were everywhere!

Probably. I've never celebrated it or gone out drinking so I don't really know what normal 30ish people do.

I don't live with my parents and zero. Also, I have gone to bars, reluctantly generally. But I usually don't drink or at most have one drink, which I don't consider "going out drinking." Especially since it's not really on the agenda for me at all.

I hope more than previous years to match our extra activity, but I won't guess that because I don't want to be disappointed....so I'll say 16, no, 18.

The answer must be somewhere in the "winning" thread. So I guess we can count on Sir Nikon to let us know once he's caught up with us?
