Some sports games are actually good. Whether you like them or not is your problem. And in japan replace rapper games by anime games.

to point out to SG japanophiles that Japan's gaming tastes aren't any better or worse, and seeing the replies, it was quite justified. notice how I've never claimed that American taste in gaming is so much better (and I won't either).

I admit that anime titles are half-assed games with little to no longevity, but at least I can usually enjoy the mindless entertainment for a few hours before tiring of it.

Personally, that's a lot more then I can say about rap titles...

not really. gullible rap-fans would disagree, and so would people that hate/like both. licensed games tend to be shitty, regardless of what the license is (of course there are exceptions to the rule, but they are exceptionably exceptional!)

I'm only talking about myself, that's why I said 'Personally' & IMO. I don't presume to dictate other people’s tastes in games.

Besides, it's obvious there are people that like rap games. If nobody liked rap games they wouldn't sell and thus they'd stop making em.

It was expected that (considering your luv for the Xbox) you would disagree with a Japanese market that would rather play something like Simple 2000 Series Vol. 81 over ANY Xbox game, yes.
man i want to triple post like that
Put 'em all together and you have a full paragraph :D

The funny thing is that Ward actually posted a "joke" post predicting this result a few months back (comparing an Xbox 360 game to the original Super Mario Bros.): http://www.squaregamer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=809

And low and behold:
20. GBA Famicom Mini: Super Mario Bros. Nintendo 457,558 1,034,264

I personally think that most licenced Japanese games have had more effort put into the gameplay than most licenced American (or shall we say Western in general) games.
This is due to the simple fact that gaming is more mainstream in Japan and good games with no movie, cartoob, or indeed rapper behind them also do well in the charts.
I've played neither the latest 50cent or Naruto games and I'm nt a huge anime fag but I'd bet anybody 10p that the latetr is more playable, and not just because it's got bright colours and Japanese voices.

Both markets are dissapointing at times. I have always liked the Japanese market more because the games I tended to like always seemed to do better there than over here (which meant that more of what I like would be made), but this wasn't always true. I remember when Klonoa 2 came out on the PS2 many moons ago. It was an awesome game, and Namco (rightfully so) expected to sell a bunch of copies (400,000) I think it was to make back their investment for making such a game. It was released in Japan, and the japanese audience practically puked on it (sold something like 20,000-50,000 copies). The 2D platformer for the PS2 practically died on the spot.

It has also affected Squaresoft as well. Part of the downfall of Square was when the Japanese gamers stopped buying non-FF Square games like Vagrant Story. The result was that Square stopped taking chances making these high budget side games and concentrated on FF. The result was that I had less to look forward too (okay, maybe Dew Prism deserved to do poorly but at least Chrono Trigger/Cross should have had another sequel at some point).

Why do you make such gay topics sticky?

You're just mad that nintendo is cleaning up in japan which more or less secures their future for a while longer.

You're just mad that nintendo is cleaning up in japan which more or less secures their future for a while longer.
Yes, that is it. I just hate Nintendo enough to make every single topic I make about them. :sarc Wake up, fanboy, this isn't a topic about Nintendo. It's a topic about japanese sales as a whole, and how they're not much better in terms of sales->quality than what we see here.

But that still makes it a thread about Nintendo indirectly (because their games are actually selling :p)

Oh c'mon now, the Japanese bought 200,000 copies of "Touch! Catch! Yoshi."
Whether you like Nintendo or not, how can anybody be bent out of shape because of something like that?

The Japanese gave us Street Fighter, Kunio-Kun, Mother, and Katamari Damacy. Anyone who doubts that judgement can go to hell and die.

They also gave us Xenosaga, which means they "can go to hell and die".

If that's true then you went to a pretty lengthy extreme just to prove a point.

You think anyone who dosn't identify with your narrow crapservative pro asshole views is an idiot. And you've had a considerable go at nintendo the past while. But I have to agree, I am an idiot for taking the bait.
