I’ll start with movies. I just scrolled through Rotten Tomatoes’ top 202 films of 2G18, and I’ve only seen a handful of them.

My two favourites from that list were probably Can You Ever Forgive Me? (finally Melissa McCarthy using her acting talent for something good, and Richard E. Grant in a role rivaling Withnail) and Cold War (a beautifully made historical Polish film).

My main honourable mention I think is BlackKklansman.

I think Black Panther was my favourite film of 2G18. Infinity War was probably as good, but relied too much on you having watched about 20 other films.

Black Panther was good, but something about it to me felt like the movie was just beginning and then it was the ending. So for me, I'd probably go with Infinity War. Lots of good comic book movies to pick from in 2G18 though. There was also Spiderverse, which was pretty great, and Deadpool 2, which had the best end credits scene of all time.

Thing is, I wasn't even anticipating Black Panther to be as enjoyable as it was, where as I'd spent 5 years looking forward to infinity War. That probably skewed my judgement somewhat. Black Panther was one of the last films that I watched in the cinema twice (perhaps even the final one).

I also saw Black Panther a little later than most people, so I think I was a bit overhyped for it. Like, I had the impression it would be the best Marvel movie.

Perhaps my thought. I saw it the day after it was released (because it was released on Valentines Day).

My only gripes with Black Panther were the awful villain and terrible CGI battle at the end. Other than that it was a fun watch. I enjoyed the production design of Wakanda and the music quite a bit.

So according to the GOTY thread, my favorite game for 2G18 was Dragon Quest XI. That probably still holds for me. I did ultimately end up liking AC Odyssey quite a bit though.

Bilbo didn't seem to have much purpose for being there and I don't remember Gollum at all, was he the other villain?

Anyway, let's see...favorite new TV show of 2018. Not really she but I looked through a list of new shows for 2018 and bestI can come up with is Killing Eve. I'm divided on that because I dislike Eve

I guess for 2G18 music, I’ll go with Kurt Vile’s most recent album, Bottle it In. It’s great. I forget what else came out in 2G18 tho.

You should have downloaded it to your Zune (may be getting 2G18 confused with 2G8).

Better Call Saul was fantastic, but I don't think it started in 2G18. I'm not going to even try to go down the well of picking favorite of continuously running shows for each year, because there's absolutely zero chance I'm going to remember the respective qualities of shows from year to year. Better Call Saul was very consistent though, so it's likely it could have been a fave of mine for multiple years running.

Yeah, I understand. I just don't create those kinds of lists, so I have nothing to refer to. I literally look up what tv shows started in a given year to do this favorites. Trying to figure out whether a season of a show in a given year that wasn't the year a show started was my favorite would be a Herculean task.

I watched the TV series Barry a year or two ago, and that started in 2G18. It’s great. Bill Hader plays a depressed hitman who goes to acting school. I think at first he just enrols to follow a hit, but he gets hooked. Henry Winkler plays the acting coach. The show kind of changes tone over 4 seasons to become progressively stranger and darker. Recommend!
