2G18 - 32: Halloween

Fei Ayanami · Post by **Fei Ayanami** » Fri Oct 12, 2018 3:24 pm

We’re going to a cabin for the weekend before Halloween. Gonna spend some of the time making Christmas cards!

(We have never prepared for Christmas so shockingly early before.)

Does the cabin have internet so you can watch Talking Real?

Nope!

Reminded me of this real week of Garfield strips that began on October 23, 1989:

THE END?

That's pretty good for Jim Davis.

Definitely well out of the ordinary.

That is some disturbing Garfield.

It does raise the question: is all Garfield since October 1989 just Garfield’s denial?

That’s almost 30 years of denial.

Sounds like my life! ZING

Just like all Star Trek: TNG movies after Generations are just Picard living in the Nexus.

Got my window projection material up Doesn't look great, though that's probably because it's a really cheap projector.

Cabins are good, but this is a weird topic of the week. I don't get it, is it about Hallowe'en or about Christmas starting earlier each year?

I'm not doing anything for Hallowe'en, instead I'm looking forward to getting some time off for Thanksgiving. No Christmas plans so far.

We went to a cabin in a (now mostly shut down for the season) campground on the weekend. We brought supplies for making our Christmas cards SUPER early this year. (We usually put them off and send them out about as late as possible.) And as a Christmas/Halloween miracle, it snowed while we were making them.

I wonder if there will be any trick or treaters where I live now. Haven't seen once since 2008.

There are definitely kids in the building now, so I should probably be prepared.

Actual trick or treaters, or just troublemakers asking for money?

Damien · Post by **Damien** » Tue Oct 30, 2018 7:58 pm

Any. Last one I got was when I was living in Ealing a decade ago.

Perfect day for a flame war!

Only had about 50 kids this year, which is down from the 80 or so that came last year. This is bad because it means I have a LOT of candy to foist on my coworkers. But at least everyone liked the decorations.

Our dog was very popular. Almost as popular as the free candy.

I got good posh half price Halloween chocolate. The shops are now in panic mode, trying to clear as much space as possible for Christmas shit.

So glad I don’t do retail at Christmas anymore.
