The last good action game that square made was Einhander, and guess what, that staff is probably long-gone. I'm not overly interested by those screenshots, especially if it does turn out into an action game.

They should stick to making games that they're good at making instead of milking licenses. :mz1

So they're in the process of making 3 spinoffs of FF7 all in quick succession.

How incredibly disappointing. In this time they could've made the next Chrono/Musashi/Threads of Fate/FF13 and 14.

When I meant original, I meant original. Not using a multitude of pre-existing licenses like they did. :x!

But I guess that FF:CC would also "count" and from what I read it also sucked. :<

FMA is based off the manga/anime, so that's not original either.

I mean, people will buy this, but only out of fanboyism and not because they'll be like "well Square owns."

If there were a Chrono, on the other hand... sigh.

What's with everyone's (I use the term loosely) facination with Vincent? He barely does anything worthwhile in the game, he just has a nice character design. :?

I have no idea, but it has to be his arm. And the coat.

He's cool just because he is. But Vincent never interested me enough that I would ever think he'd star in his own game.

Strange how the casual gamer may have played FF7 without ever even noticing Vincent.

I'm just glad these spinoffs are just for FFVII, one of the FF games I care the least about.

If this was an "Irvine action game" then heads would roll.

I bet this game will out sell DMC3, not because it will be better but because of fanboyism like doom said.

Ha. Red, I bet FFVI is next. I just have a hunch.

Dark history...

He was macking on Lecrutia when he was a Turk, Hojo didn't like it and got rid of him by turning him into some kind of demon thing. Wow thats dark.

The only "shocking" revelation I can think of is that they finally say that: (and I'll use spoilers just in case people are like OMG WTF I NEVER THOUGHT OF IT LIKE THAT)...

Vincent is Sephiroths real dad. It makes sense - they both look alike, he was in love with Lecrutia around the time she got pregnant so it's likely his son, Hojo got rid of Vincent when he started experimenting with her baby and Vincent didn't want him to. With Vincent "out of the picture", and Hojo altering the baby in the womb, it becomes "his" child so to speak. Or if you want to get really basic Lecrutia was just loose and was banging both of them when she got pregnant. :l

Thats my theory anyway. Not that it matters much, but its hardly "dark" or full of random crap. Vincent likely had some random adventures before he locked himself up, and thats what the game will be. Its probably not going to make any sense whatsoever. :(

That was the first time I saw spoilers used on this forum and at first I couldn't even tell they were being used. :(

I'll go and say it anyways without spoilers:

Yeah, I think Vincent is Sephiroth's father as well. Lucrecia and him probably had sex before all that mess with Hojo happened.

It is dark. Of course the way you chose to describe it seems cartoonish, which you can do with almost anything.

Vincent tried to save the woman he loved, and he failed to do so. His curse (or what happened along the way) was being turned into that monster. And he never did end up with Lucrecia.

I would rather see a re-make of FFVII than this. I mean I will probably still buy it (if it at least gets decent reviews). But what I've always wanted was a remake with ps2 style graphics.

Yet, I don't understand why they put money into such titles when they could truly be finishing the Xenogears saga (no, I do not like Xenosaga) or even remaking Xenogears. This is a little dissapoinitng. Also, for those who want a crono remake there is one being made by fans for the PC. The graphics look good and it looks to stick to the actual feeling and character design of the first.

I want a remake of FFVII too but at this point I'm sure I won't get it and I don't really care anymore.

It'll come if it ever comes.

All I want is a new Chrono game, FFXII, and KH2, but let's see if Square fucks them up as well.

Um...fire2ash...Chrono Resurrection wasn't a remake. It was a project where they do redo memorable CT scenes. And it wasn't a game either I don't think. But that project was stopped.

I would love for a remake of Xenogears...in fact, I never thought about that. I'm sure Square has way more resources and potential remaking it than Monolithsoft ever has. But I'm sure they won't ever touch it.

Supposedly as of a year or so ago there was a sequel to chrono cross being made. I don't know if its true anymore given Enix has merged with them (god i never understood this move, i never really liked Dragon warrior).

Ever since after FF8, I have never ever looked forward or highly anticipated another FF. FFX I kind of did, but once I played it I lost almost all hope.

No because FF has gotten so annoying I wish it would die. :E Or atleast stop using the numerals.

FFXII looks really awesome, and hopefully it can revive the series for something respectable as opposed to a bunch of ghey spin offs.

Yeah but it wasn't an immediate merge after the movie. Damn, all that time and money into a mediocre movie :(. They did set a new standard for CG movies though. Advent children better be good. If that movie had never been made, or had sold better, imagine what we would have now from squaresoft :erm
