Yeah...I learned to use the map properly after that one...Pendragon wrote:Don't just use your sword, you have a map for a reason. If you check the direction of the light from the sword with the all the open spaces in that particular direction with your map then finding all the colossi is rather easy.Sephira wrote:In the meantime, I was over in the northern east parts of the map and stuff, and the sword just kept me going in circles.![]()
Anyway...onto 12. Didn't get much time to play today, but started 12... but my sister had to go to bed, so I stopped and told her we'd figure it out together. We like to work the colossi puzzles out together.
As for #12, man... That one took me over an hour to beat, was by far the hardest colossus to wrap my head around. 13 completely made up for all the frustration from the previous one, even though his weaknesses are fairly obvious, it was such an awesome fight.
Anyway, I beat the game today... What a great ending. Though the last colossi was a bitch to fight. Took me a few minutes to realize charging in wasn't gonna do me any good.
And I must say, colossi 14 was one of my favourites, the little bugger.
My heart's a battleground~
Beat it late last night; last colossi gave me the same problem. Spent most of the time in the fight crouched over healing myself from my attempts to rush in and from falling off him while trying to jump to vital spotSephira wrote:Anyway, I beat the game today... What an absolutely fantastic ending, it really made the whole game that much more rewarding which is saying a lot. Before the game came out the development team saying this is not a sequel to Ico, just a spiritual successor, however I noticed a lot of similarities between the two stories before the games came even came out, and now that I've seen the ending I'm even more certain that it's a continuation from where Ico left off.
As for favorite colossi, #14 was indeed fun once I actually figured out how to take him down, though I'd have to say my favorite is a toss up between 9 & 13. #9 being the most exhilarating boss fight ranked right up there with the Krauser fight in RE4, and #13 simply for the sheer joy of the fight and all the cool things you had to do to beat it.

Go go, LO!Last One wrote:I already forgot which one was #9I'm going up for #14 right now
Have a nice day
Yeah... yeah... I was especially angry/upset over the event before the battle, so I wasn't even thinking. My sister had to think for me. X3 I just kept rushing in until she was all "Omg, STOP that!"Pendragon wrote: Beat it late last night; last colossi gave me the same problem. To me, SotC is the beginning of ICO. I won't say anything else, 'cause I don't want to ruin it for LO and anyone else playing. What an absolutely fantastic ending, it really made the whole game that much more rewarding which is saying a lot. 9 angered me, 'cause he kept hurting Agro.As for favorite colossi, #14 was indeed fun once I actually figured out how to take him down, though I'd have to say my favorite is a toss up between 9 & 13. #9 being the most exhilarating boss fight ranked right up there with the Krauser fight in RE4, and #13 simply for the sheer joy of the fight and all the cool things you had to do to beat it.

Yeah, without spoiling it, let me just say I know exactly what you meanSephira wrote:Yeah... yeah... I was especially angry/upset over the event before the battle, so I wasn't even thinking.
Now that you mention it I can easily see why, it does seem interchangable since it works both ways. Still though concidering where Ico leaves off and Shadow picks up I'm going to have to lean for Shadow being the sequal instead of the prequel. Though to share why I believe it would require a lot of spoilers for both games, so let's not do it here.Sephira wrote:To me, SotC is the beginning of ICO. Hm... I never really looked at it as a sequel... I don't really see the connection you're making either. o_oPendragon wrote:

For me, it makes sense as a long ago predecesor to ICO. Not even a direct prequel. Just, the story that took place ages and ages ago, before ICO.

I'll make a seperate thread with the proper spoiler warning cause there are a few details that almost scream connection. Whether that connection is sequel, prequel or unrelated is up for interpretation I guess...Sephira wrote:Hm... I never really looked at it as a sequel... I wouldn't be surprised if that's what the development team had intended when they started making the game.Sephira wrote:Not even a direct prequel. Just, the story that took place ages and ages ago, before ICO.

I'm glad you're enjoying the game, Ward.

Separate thread sounds good. It'll be fun talking about it, and Ward can come join us when he finishes the game.Pendragon wrote:I'll make a seperate thread with the proper spoiler warning cause there are a few details that almost scream connection. Finally got to the secret garden today after having died too many times to count while trying to climb it. It definately seemed like an accomplishment to make it up there, but still the garden itself was sightly disappointing. Still I hear that somewhere up the tower in hard mode after doing all the time attacks there's a 17th Colossi, though just an uncomfirmed rumor at this point.
I definitely felt excited while playing Shadow though I didn't associate it with anything dealing with childhood. Though the entire game was excellent the best moment for me was the ending, seeing the entire story come together was absolutely perfect.Ward wrote:When I play this game, I feel like I'm a little kid again. You know the joy you got out of just playing a new game when you were younger? That thrill? That excitement? I get that when I play this. I haven't played a game that has made me feel like this since MSG1.
Nothing compares to the first night I played MGS1 though. I'd rented it with a friend since we'd both heard good things about it and we had the best time finding all the ways to die from the guards outside the tank garage. I still remember my excitement the first time I punched and guard and hid in a vent shaft, when the guard threw in a grenade and killed me I was ecstatic.
BTW Sephira, the thread is up sorry it took so long.

the 16th boss is making the only complain i have with this game come out. when gripping on something, to jump forward or backwards has very little space for it. most of the 360 degrees seem dedicated to going left/right. you have to be extremely precise to go foward or backwards. which makes the last colossus crappy to me.
i kinda quit, i was getting frustrated

Are you talking about left hand to right hand? just stab, hold triangle, hold down the analog stick, then when the right hand comes up, let go of triangle. Obviously make sure you're holding R1 the entire time.Ward wrote:the 16th boss is making the only complain i have with this game come out. when gripping on something, to jump forward or backwards has very little space for it. most of the 360 degrees seem dedicated to going left/right. you have to be extremely precise to go foward or backwards. which makes the last colossus crappy to me.
