I put my money where my mouth is and picked up Remake on sale. Based on the experience thus far I don't see my opinions changing but no harm in giving it a fair shot.

Don't worry. The way games are released and rereleased nowadays, I'd be surprised if they didn't also bring out complete/deluxe/Royal Edition/HD Remix or whatever they want to call it on the next gen of consoles.

I sped through that but there were way too many bad minigames. The three part series is the epitome of filler though.

I fucking hated the Golden Saucer in the original and unfortunately it still sucks in rebirth and I just gave up

Gold Saucer looked the part but I don’t think it lived up to my internal hype. By the time I got there I was already fed up of minigame bloat.

Kind of fair. They really overdid minigames throughout the game. That said, Queen's Blood is the best.

That was the worst chapter. Having to learn to play a tabletop card game in order to progress in the story.

My dude, it was the best. I hadn't even gotten into the game much yet, but playing it in that chapter made everything click and then I was hooked. And also, you could just lose, couldn't you?
