I've seen a lot of comments of the 24 hour flu 12 hrs after getting the AZ. Putting that immune system to work!

I got Moderna and felt nothing both times. But half of my coworkers I vaccinated got really bad flu-like symptoms with their second doses for both Pfizer and Moderna starting around 12 hours post-dose and lasting around 24-48 hours.

I haven't been able to help at the clinic since J&J/Janssen vaccine was approved in the US, though.

Yeah I had that on my first dose with AZ. Everyone I know who’s had it had similar issues.

It might also be because we are old.

48 hours could be an issue for me. I scheduled a nerve test for my feet (I have some paresthesia issues I'm trying to get to the bottom of) almost exactly 48 hours after my second dose is scheduled. I scheduled it before scheduling the first dose of my vaccine, but then I took what I could get when I could schedule the vaccine and just kind of thought of the potential issues there afterward.

To be fair, they've been hesitant to say whether vaccines prevent transmission, but I think the evidence is mostly pointing to they mostly do. Still the double dose vaccines are only 95% effective at preventing catching covid so they wouldn't likely be more than that at preventing transmission. They really should still wear masks in mixed company. Chances of spread between fully vaccinated individuals is probably negligible (not that it won't happen at all, but too infrequent to require modifying behavior), but from a fully vaccinated person to an unvaccinated person is probably high enough chance to warrant some caution (i.e. masks).

They've been cautious because at least 30% of the population is comprised of idiots that will be even more intransigent to taking reasonable precautions for people who legitimately cannot get vaccinated.

Your assumptions are probably close to the reality that we're not able to claim from available data just yet. The likelihood of transmission is likely very low, but yeah, even if we assume that 5% of vaccinated people can be infected, it's not unreasonable to infer that most of them are probably also capable of transmission (even if it is not a severe form of the disease which, fortunately, the approved vaccines seem to protect about as close to 100% as current data allows us to approach statistically), no place on the planet is anywhere near the level they need to be at for population-level protection.

Using a calculation site, this is what I get

Based on your profile, you are in priority Group 11. Given an uptake of 100%, there are between 3,391,902 and 10,087,290 people in front of you in the queue for a first dose of COVID vaccine across the UK.
Given a vaccination rate of 3,032,208 a week and an uptake of 100%, you should expect to receive your first dose of vaccine between 27/05/2021 and 06/07/2021.

That second date keeps moving back....

The Quebec system is actually alarmingly well-designed. It was one of the best government websites I’ve ever used, and apparently the experience people have had when actually going has also been very positive.
