Outdoor is safe and we have plenty of that, so why not do that.
There was an outdoor birthday gathering (just family) for one of my niblings over the summer. I would've felt okay hanging out in that context, but it would take 3 buses filled with germy strangers each way there and back so I declined.
I'm going to have to figure out how to get everyone's presents handed out...

Yeah I realize it’s not feasible for all
With my partners family there’s always a risk that they decide to invite very one without telling us (they did that over the summer and we left)
We've settled for our original plan, stay at home and do Christmas with the two of us (+ the cats). If anybody with their own transport wants to visit us over the Christmas period, they are free to, but it would be foolish for us to observe the high tier 3 restrictions, only to cram onto public transport to visit people in a lower tier area.
Our postal deliveries have gotten shitty in the last week or so. Been expecting a couple of games and loads of cards, but haven’t even seen a post van since Saturday
Our last delivery included stuff for two houses other than ours as well. Hope the cards I sent out actually arrive at their destinations
As far as I know, all my friends are following the new cancelled Christmas rules and are either reducing their Christmas to one day or not seeing their family at all. Amusingly, it’s looking like the rules will result in us actually seeing people on Christmas Day rather than not. Two local friends who were going to use the allowed days to see their respective families have called it off, so I’ve invited them over for Christmas Day (allowed). They’ve been almost as safe as us and we’re not seeing anybody else any time soon, so I’m okay with that.
By the way, if you're ever doing a smash bros stream again, I think I know how to play with friends. You have to setup an arena and make it for friends or something like that.
Kiddo needed some instruction on how to open gifts this morning, but caught on pretty quickly. He lost interest in everything else after he opened the dancing Elmo doll.

We usually pay for our own holiday in the year as a a Christmas present, but me and my wife went half each on the Lego Disney castle this year. Had our eyes on it for years but it’s hard to justify £300 on Lego. After several years though, we just went for it. Wrapped it up for ourselves and still haven’t opened it.
