LONGEST FUCKING POST EVAR
1. Escaflowne
- visuals: I say the visuals are excellent, given that the series came out on the heels of whoring out a computer to do much of the work in the industry ;p.
- sound: The music speaks for itself, and enhances the show in every possibly aspect. Voice acting is top notch as well.
- plot: Plenty good, surprise twists, with a subplot here or there.
- character development/drama: I'd say the development is quite good, if not a tiny bit unbalanced to a character or two.
- comedy: It's there, albeit in the form of Meryl.
- action: Oh yes.
2. Kaleido Star
- visuals: A tiny, tiny bit lacking every once in a while, but quite good usually, and great when it wants to be.
- sound: Good stuff, but like the visuals, great when it wants to be.
- plot: A bit simple, but nicely done in the first season, unfortunately dragging out in the second.
- character development/drama: SORA, YOU ARE THE ONE. MAKE ME PROUD. FREE THE MATRIX.
- comedy: God bless you Fool.
- action: I'll be damned because I love every performance this show puts on. Sometime it's better than any flying kung fu power fest.
- strong themes: Don't give up..alot?
3. Fruits Basket
- visuals: Nice and simple, which works best for it.
- sound: Music's good, va's are good, even the dub is good.
- plot: Tohru is Jesus.
- character development/drama: Pretty good, spread out quite well from start to end. Good amount of drama too.
- comedy: Chock full of it, and balanced well against the serious matters too.
- action: Quite little.
- strong themes: BELIEVE!!!
4. Evangelion
- visuals: Pretty good for its time.
- sound: Great all around, music, va's, etc.
- plot: It's good, once you actually freaking understand it, and it was more or less the first of its kind in terms of fuckin your head over.
- character development/drama: Ok character development, plenty of drama.
- comedy: It's there, usually to offset the mind fucking.
- action: Great stuff.
- strong themes: I'll solve everything by KILLING YOU ALL.
5. Last Exile
- visuals: Really freaking good, beautiful at times.
- sound: VA's are good, music's nothing all that special, but does its job.
- plot: It kept me glued, I think it's viable enough for most anyone to get into.
- character development/drama: Great, if not a teensy bit unbalanced.
- comedy: Here and there.
- action: Oh yes.
- strong themes: Free willy.
6. Record of Lodoss War (OVA, not TV)
- visuals: Ridicously fucking good. Even now (the dragons look superb).
- sound: Above average overall.
- plot: Tiny bit confusing, but solid.
- character development/drama: A bit jarbled, and again unbalanced, but there's plenty of drama.
- comedy: Not really.
- action:
- strong themes: Evil is bad.
7. Urusei Yatsura
- visuals: Basic, as it should be.
- sound: Music's good, but the va's are great. Ataru's VA is god.
- plot: Thin as paper, more room for chaos.
- character development/drama: There's no real progression in terms of development, and the drama's there every once in a blue moon for the series, but usually a big part of the films.
- comedy: Unrivaled. To the max.
- action: Sparse, but the show is filled to the brim with energy.
- strong themes: Don't date a lighting bolt.
8. Devilman / Devil Lady (all forms):
- visuals: The later rendition of Devilman was great, but the first was 70's cheese. Devil Lady looks quite good too.
- sound: Again, cheese in the begining, quite solid and good from there on.
- plot: Kill alot for Devilman, kill reluctantly for Devil Lady. Simple, but the complexities lies within the characters.
- character development/drama: I personally put down both Devilman and Devilman Lady because the two are stark opposites of one another, and thus develop differently, warranting two good series under the same moniker. Drama's more of Devil Lady's deal, but it's there in Devilman too.
- comedy: Quite little.
- action: Yes, plenty of it. Violently bloody, mmmm.
- strong themes: Good triumps evil (but one must be evil to defeat evil) - Devilman and equality for all -Devil Lady
9. Nadeisco (film included)
- visuals: Series was good, film was better.
- sound: Average really.
- plot: A bit cliche, but pulled off well. Ending of series = ?, ending of film = ? x n
- character development/drama: Unbalanced, but not bad.
- comedy: The show's strongest point. Quite funny.
- action: Second only to the comedy.
- strong themes: BEWEIVE IN YOUSEWF, WE ARE ALL KWEEATED EQWAL.
10. Dragon Ball (not DBZ or GT)
- visuals: Pretty good for its time, did its job well.
- sound: I love the music so much, it reeks of old school.
- plot: Straightfoward, simple, easy enough for all.
- character development/drama: A bit of drama, not much character development save for Goku.
- comedy: Great stuff, quite funny.
- action: Hell yes. Innovative, funny, the action makes the show but doesn't over power it too much.
And I'm totally spent.
