I like all the seasons and like living in a part of the world where I can enjoy all 4 in their full glory. By the time I'm tired of one, the next season starts to pick up.
I like winter for snow, fires in the fireplace, hot chocolate, Xmas, and never ever being too warm. It's a nice feeling to be warm inside while the rest of the world is cold and still.
I like autumn for leaf peeper season, Halloween, Thanksgiving, apple picking, the end of the baseball season, and the fact that all the ticks and mosquitoes will be dead soon.
In the spring, all the sugar shacks in the area are busy making maple syrup towards the beginning, and we have recently been getting our yearly supply of syrup from Robb's Farm in Brattleboro. Spring is also nice because it's when fresh produce starts becoming more available and the seasonal ice cream stand ny our house opens.
Summer is seafood, barbecue, strawberry, and blueberry season. Don't really care about 4th of July, but any US summer holiday is a good excuse to start up the grill and smoker or go to a seafood shack for clams, crab cakes, or hot lobster rolls.
We really need a campaign season in the US where only 2 or 3 weeks a year - sometime in late October/early November - I have to ignore campaign ads, mailers, and solicitous phone calls before voting for someone I'd already hitched my wagon to before campaign season started.
1. Winter - Snow, please. Also has Christmas and stuff. Best tea and hot chocolate time.
2. Fall - Best temperatures. Nice leaves and colors. Foods. Yay pumpkin! Halloween. Thanksgiving too, I guess.
3. Spring - Also some good weather. Pretty rainy. Tends a bit too much toward being either too hot or too cold rather than the good in between. Allergies. Easter though.
Summer - Just too hot. Now that I'm not in school I don't get a break for summer, which was pretty much the only good part. Sunburns. Good movies sometimes, though. Best ice cream eating time. All summer holidays are rubbish and I only get one summer holiday off anyway (unless you count labor day as a summer holiday, which I suppose it technically is). Still rubbish.
I like sunshine, I like long days and I like summer holidays. Despite having quite severe hayfever, I'd trade that for the gloom and depression than autumn and winter bring.
Autumn here is fucking grim. Rainy, gloomy, lacking daylight, too cold to wear light clothes but too mild to wear warm clothes. It rains so much here that you just can't dress sensibly. The ground is wet/muddy and people stop wanting to do stuff that they'd be up for in the summer.
I'd put a season between Spring and Summer (Sprummer), to prolong this season, or one between Summer and Autumn (...Sutumn?) to help better transition from lovely, warm, long days into gloomy, depressing, short ones.
