Pacers - Pistons - Fans Battle Royale

Post by Mitsurugi CP »

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/recap;_ylc= ... 2004111908

I was watching the game when this happened, and holy shit.

Who do you think is to blame for all of this?

The fans? Artest? Wallace?

How do you think this will change the NBA if at all, and how should it change as a result of this incident?

Personally, I think that the Piston fan who first threw the object at Artest is to blame, and then the subsequent fans who got on the court. (Did anyone see the guy who threw it? He was talking shit to Artest right until he realized he was about to get his ass kicked, then he curled up like a dead fetus)

I think that this is really only a one time incident, so I don't think any changes need to be made except maybe to have security prepared for the possibility of this kind of incident. But I definitely think that the NBA will limit or totally cut off alcohol sales at games.

Anyone have the 81 MB full quality Divx video? Can't seem to find a working link...

UPDATE 2:
Its Dead:

"I have been contacted by lawyers from the NBA. They asked me to remove the video. Sorry guys"

The brawl fucking owned. I watched it like 4x on Sportscenter. :)

Both Artest and the fan are to blame for starting it, but in the end, the participating Pistons fans deserve to be shot. What utter retards.

Yeah, it was fucking awesome. Now I'll watch the NBA again, rather than just NCAA. I kinda feel bad for Pistons fans because they will be referred to (as a group) when this is talked about when it wasn't ALL of them participating. However, there were enough that I wouldn't differentiate if asked, either. All those people throwing shit on the players in the walkway need to have a testicle/breast removed. Oh, and that guy Artest went after appearently wasn't the one who threw it. Artest was mistaken or something and ran right by the dude. That dude then started hitting Artest in the back. Then there was that big black dude who sucker punched someone (Jackson I think). Those fans just acted disgraceful.

Yeah, I as a Pistons fan, am excited for everyone to come down on the Pistons and their fans.. even though this could have happened anywhere. It's always popular for the opposition to come down on the champs.

The Pistons fans were a bunch of fucking idiots. Of all players in the NBA you could possibly piss off, Ron Artest (probably the biggest hot head in the league) was the worst choice. What did you expect would happen when you throw bottles of beer at players in the middle of a rivalry game? Not only did Wallace overreact about Artest's foul, but ultimately the fans didn't help the situation when it was just starting to die down. Overall though, it was fucking hilarious especially watching that fatass fan think he could actually go toe-to-toe against Artest only to watch him get his faced bashed in.

The fans are friggin idiotic, but so are Artest and the other players who went into the audience.

Players need to be able to control themselves to the point that they don't cause it to escalate beyond a single unruly fan being a douchebag. I would hope Artest gets tossed for the rest of the season without pay, though with the current trends in American sports, it's more likely he'll get a slap on the wrist fine like that dipshit baseball player that hit some woman in the face with a chair and broke her nose while aiming for her husband.

But hey, congratulations to the players and the fans on turning Basketball into the American equivalent of South American and European Soccer, where people show up at the game to get in fights with the players and each other. :x

Why Wallace. I don't see why he should be suspended any longer than any other person who fights in the league.

Funny thing was, Artest got the wrong guy. So he punched some innocent guy who was just near the fgt who threw the cup.

Anyway I bet that Piston fan won't be buying Artest's new CD. Straight up yo!

Why's that? If it's about people coming down on the champs it's true. If you notice everyone who whines and bitches about this thinks it's hilarious that Artests and other pacers whomped on fans but it's totally ridiculous for them to get hit with a cup. Sorry, responding to getting with a paper (plastic at the most) cup by rushing them and trying to rearrange their face is totally ridiculous. And Artest being a so called hot head is no excuse.

Swap out the Pistons for any other team and I certainly wouldn't think any differently. Maybe you just need to get to know some more Pistons-friendly people.

Yes but not everyone feels that way. But you know there are going to be idiots that are going to join the band wagon and come down on the Pistons just because they were/are the champs.

I would say the main reason is because they just kept pushing and pushing until the thing got out of control. Yeah, everybody involved was an idiot, but the fans just didn't know when to quit. This far from being some supposed agenda that everybody has on them.

Nah the fans were definetely to blame for starting it. Throwing debris on the court is inexcusable in any way. Everyone is at fault for the whole thing, but the fans were the instigators.

Let's just hope now Artest will be more popular and can get more CD sales!

So... Artest is gone the whole season, eh? I guess I understand it. They want to make an example of him so players will show restraint in the future.

Yeah, but the players have to show restraint and let the the arena security handle it. By jumping into the audience and attacking someone like that, they basically create a riot, especially considering the fans aren't friends of theirs to begin with. It doesn't matter whose fault it is if someone were to get seriously injured or die as a result.

I actually think Artest specifically could have used a hefty fine on top of it all, just to get the message of "calm the fuck down" across to him personally, but whatever. Hopefully it would get the message across to the players that they have to take the higher road and avoid the gang mentality a lot of them grew up with when it comes to interactions with unruly fans.

Also, saying that it's got something to do with the Pistons being the champions is completely idiotic.

I've never given a shit about basketball until I saw that video. My sides hurt from laughing so hard. It is hard to hold back from using the racist cards here. I would just like to point out that it was mainly all the white guys sitting on the outside watching, laughing their asses off. Goooooooo team!

It's because only white guys have enough money to afford both the tickets and the $12 cups of beer they bought in order to get drunk enough to piss Artest off. :boo

Here's to Artest giving corporate America what was coming to it. :ruroken
