Hyper Street Fighter II Anniv. That's why I asked which version do you like best. I am having such a hard time just pulling the damn move off. Not that the computer gives you much of a chance to, but the only reason they can get it off is because they can do it while they are standing and can do it quite far away. Him and T Hawk just tear me up with these moves, and I wish I could do them but find it very difficult.TheDarkOne wrote:which game? you can always do SPD off of a wake up if they're close enough, and in some versions of the game Gief has a HUUUUUUGE SPD range, you can try doing the motion while in another move so the move comes out after your first atk finishes... if you're playing a game that lets you cancel moves, you can always do Spinning Lariat > SPD
I can pull off the SPD while walking up to the opponent so you should be able to do the SPD without jumping. The direction of where you start the SPD doesn't matter and if you have a lot of problems you should use the analog stick as it's mildly easier to do the 360 motion.Helmholz wrote:Guys, I need some Zangief questions answered.
Does anyone know how to be good with him? CAN you do a spinning piledriver without jumping? Can you consistently pull a SPD off? Does it matter which way you 360? Which version of Zangief do you find best?
Thanks.
You can buffer the 360 motion, it's quite easy actually. Just do a half a circle in whatever direction you need to, and then simply press up right after the half a circle. The game registers it as a 360. It's fourty BILLION times easier on a stick though, but this makes it easy to do on a pad too.

In other news, I entered a 3S tourney last week, got spanked, but that's cool. It's only my second. It's not my game of choice but I am very much willing to learn and expierence more. Makoto will be my gal. Karausa that shit!

Yeah I always go clockwise starting from the right side on any 360 move in any game, much easier.. Especially if the game has running, you hold forward and then 360 ending with up. in HSF this is not the case, but if you dp the method up close he will grab right away. From a distance he won't even do animation and he will only jump. Is it just me or does the ST AI Zangief have mad freaking range? I don't think I have been able to do that much range.

Yes, I am tired of people using "top tiered" characters exploiting cheap techniques or combos over and over. Although if they abuse same things over and over, itis still easy to beat them even with a character that isn't considered top tier. I remember back in MVC when some fag would use an infinity repetitively, I lost respect for the MVC games altogether. It is more of a game of cheap combos/infinites and learning when to start the chain.

Re: Street Fighter: Anniversary Collection
Mikey's classic position towards infinites.
The fact is that Capcom didn't fine tune the game so that infinites were eliminated and it allows for cheap matches that once an infinite is landed it's an automatic win for the person. Sure you should be good enough that an infinite shouldn't be landed on you but at the same time the infinites are not entirely possible to get in. It completely takes the fun away from the game when matches can be won with infinites rather than skill.
Anyways, I've been trying to pick up Hugo and Yun in SFIII:3S and I need some basic strats for these two characters. Specifically, I need good set ups and combos for Yun's Genei-Jin SA.
Re: Street Fighter: Anniversary Collection
Getting a good set up for Yun is pretty hard sometimes (for the juggle combos) as people will pretty much try anything to stop you from doing so. So it is important to COMBO into Geneijin and then launch them, its quite hard in some combos as you have to super jump cancel without actually super jumping. Also make sure to always put as many palms in as you can, otherwise the combo dmg will be pretty weak. I found an easy way of putting some palms in, one is after launch in corner, use his qcf punch move, then palm right before they land and repeat, finishing with either a qcf p, DP k, or a f HP. Another basic easy way to land about four palms in (although can be difficult) is using the hop kick and moving forward as much as you can and palm before they hit ground and repeat, it is quite cheap too
. If you can use his dive kick to get close then MK to launch you can then sj cancel into geneijin and start the combo off with a kobuokushi. Down mk, Geneijin, down LP to Dakai works well too, but has to be done much quickera. Also geneijin can be done after his target combo lp, lk, mp in both ground attacks and corner launches.
Hugo is hard to use, especially against fast characters like akuma and ken. If your using gigas breaker, try and use it only on jumpins or wakeups as thats really the only way you will get it off consistently. Shootdown breaker is a good anti air, but must be done quickly if you are reacting to an air attack, especially after you parry their jump in attack. his lp and lk pokes are good too.

Man, I didn't even see Ibuki mentioned once. Doesn't anyone like to play poor lil Ibuki besides me? Sure she has like 2 hp and hits like a feather, but she looks cool in action.
There's one combo you can do with Yun's Ginei-jin that takes off around 65% health on Ryu (he's the standard when used to measure dmg, since he takes around normal dmg, not less like Q or more like Akuma), and leaves Yun with at least 33%+ of his meter back. I hate Yun, he's overpowered. I hate him almost as much as the shotoclones.

I don't mind the shotoclones, I don't mind Yun, I don't mind anyone actually except for one person, Chun Li.
I hate her in this game. I really, really hate her. You can literally do nothing but turtle to build meter and then c.MK x 40,000,000 until lands so you can link it into SAII. She is just that much of a whore.
I don't mind Ken becase he's got all the tools, so he deserves it. Yun is a bit much with his Genjien craziness, but it really doesn't compare to Chun Li.
;p

Re: Street Fighter: Anniversary Collection
The only person who turtles with Chun-Li is Justin Wong and we all saw Daigo pwn the shit out of that strategy.
I loved Chun-Li in CVS2 and since that version of her is just a port of SFIII:3S I can't help but like her 3S counterpart as well. Of course, I never turtle with her as it's absolutely no fun in doing that. I usually abuse her pokes like crazy and go for the kick super combo.
I basically dropped all other characters and focused my game on Ryu. Ryu has always been my character of choice since SFII so I have to stick with my most reliable character for every SF installement. Call it tradition if you will.

Re: Street Fighter: Anniversary Collection
I just hate the shotoclones because EVERYONE plays them. God, I'm so sick of seeing Ken vs Ken, Ryu vs Ken, and when one of them decides to get 'creative,' chooses Akuma. Not to mention it's so boring watching those matches, it's the same thing everytime.
The only shoto I play is Sean -- gotta love his overhead head butt. Even if he connects he can be supered afterwards, since he recovers slower than the guy he just hit
Random fact: Shoryu-cannon has higher priority than Shinshoryuken

Re: Street Fighter: Anniversary Collection
I started playing this again. Hopefully I can get better.
SF AE for XBOX was released in the UK and japan, and guess what, its region free.
It was recalled shortly after a music bug was found. But everyone knows it was recalled because Americans found out it was region free and you could play XBOX LIVE right now if you wanted. Most likely it will be back with region locks.
As for Yun being overpowered, he is. But you HAVE to be good to be good with him, hes fast but you have to have good timing, and fast reactions. You have to be able to juggle at any time anywhere, even if you didn't intend to launch him. Even if your not in a corner, it takes skill to calculate what moves to use to get the most damage out of the juggle when the launch was unintentional and you aren't in a corner.
Ken is overused, but hes not overpowered like some other whore. Chun Li is drastically overpowered, and her priority is way too good. any poke (that out-pokes all other pokes I might add) could lead into a devastating SA2. Ibuki was #1 in the tier in Double Impact (Giant Attack), if you look at her moves, chains and combos, they are actually really nice. She just doesn't have good frame advantage and her moves are slower, also alot of her chains were raped in 3s making her not as useful. Makoto is pure ownage, but not as easy as you would think to be good at.
I have seen some very skilled Hugo and Oro players, just because they haven't won tournies yet doesn't mean its not possible. In the Shirube tournament, Ryu got to the final 2. I never expected Ryu to get so far.
Its quite well balanced, not nearly as Garou but it is. MVC 1 and 2 are absolute trash, that American gamers just love and eat it up.

Re: Street Fighter: Anniversary Collection
Guilty Gear is not nearly as balanced as I would have liked it to be. It's still a lot more balanced then the majority of fighting games being released recently but it still has tier settings. The top tier spot may be changing on a constant basis but it usually is between a few characters that were in the top tier section to begin with. You'll never see the likes of Testament in there.

Re: Street Fighter: Anniversary Collection
By all means Testament doesn't suck and I should know since I've made him my character of choice. However, it's a bit different when you see consistent results with characters like Eddie, Millia, and Sol. It's always possible for other characters to defeat the top tiers but a lot more effort is needed than when using top tier characters.
Yes he perfected the pink Dudley twice, and the pink dudley was good too. He decimated pretty much all his competition until he met up with Makoto.
As for the Chun Li player, I could care less, he plays just like any other high level Chun Li whore
I just got an xbox, so in a couple months (when im not broke) I will buy a shitload of xbox live games, including GGX:R
But what I'm really looking forward to is XBOX SF:AE with Xbox live 3.0

Re: Street Fighter: Anniversary Collection
The one thing that crippled Ibuki in Third Strike was the omission of her godly Hashin-sho in Second Impact. Think shippu jinrai kyaku except with better range and juggle opportunities afterwards
I'm not sure, but I think it may well have been a point blank super art even when the opponent is half a screen away.
I think Ken is overpowered, considering how easy he is to play. In general it's agreed upon in top level play that the Top Three are Ken, Yun, and ChunLi, with either Urien or Makoto closely trailing behind. The parrying system levels the playing field somewhat, but the tiers are still there.

Definitely, Ken is the most balanced, but I don't think hes THAT overpowered, he just has alot of tools that can be exploited.
For example, not many people have the ability to play Ken like Daigo does, he can use Kara shoryukens to juggle and his throwing game is some of the best I've ever seen. Most people I've played simple use down+mk followed by either a super or a fireball. Pretty easy to counter, unless they are good at mix up games. He is also very good at pressuring the opponent, but I have seen some pretty good Ken players being dominated by the likes of Oro and especially Chun (heh). I saw a Hugo once perfect a high level Ken twice after getting owned by ken the first round.

Sorry for reviving this topic again.
But as many of you probably know, the UK and JP versions of this game are REGION FREE and on XBOX LIVE. I have already ordered my copy from lik-sang, you can also order from CNSX and play-asia. I must warn you that the game has been recalled, because of a "stage music bug" but its really because of the region code.
So if you want to play on XBOX live without waiting untill february, buy it now
BTW. gamertag: fire2ash
