I WAS MADE TO HIT IN AMERICA!
Re: Ongoing Anime Discussion (now with October 2004)
Outta pure curiosity, is Beck the manga in which the drummer is a transvestite and the guitarist is a Mohawk?

Ah that's the one! Stupid "B"'s in the titles got me confused.Gray wrote:nope, thats bremenSilex wrote:Outta pure curiosity, is Beck the manga in which the drummer is a transvestite and the guitarist is a Mohawk?
Too bad it's not in anime form, Bremen is funny as hell.
Re: Ongoing Anime Discussion (now with October 2004)
Finally got around to getting Macross Zero 5. Awesome episode.

Damn right it was fucking pure ownage, I didn't see that coming at all. I mean the nya / meow preview for 7 pulled some happy strings of mine, but 8's preview had me waving my hands back and forth in the air while chanting sakura, sakura. Haha, too god damn good man.
On that note, this curly haired girl greatly intrigues me. I've seen her in lots of fanart potraying a Yumi x CURLY girl realtionship, so hopefully my downloads are done when I get home later tonight so I CAN DIG INTO 8 and 9 AND kiss my monitor after it. Thank you for EVER mentioning the show Doom, I don't think I've owed you as much as I do for this.

I thought it turned out pretty good though I expected Sara and Shin to "survive". I like the open endedness of its though and I've grown to like this couple. If more Macrosses are ever made, it would be nice to see minor references to them.

Re: Ongoing Anime Discussion (now with October 2004)
Well personally I was bored to tears during the nonfighting/nonboobies bits of Macross Zero !
zero IS about the endgame of the UN Spacy/anti UN war, but no it didn't elaborate nearly enough on things. the main link that zero has to the original is the correlation between mayan myth and the protoculture, and of course focker and la salle.
i'd like to see kawamori make a new show that doesn't have any tree-hugging sublimity in it.

Re: Ongoing Anime Discussion (now with October 2004)
Well, the main focus of it was the Mayan culture thing and much less the great war. I thought it was intended to be a stand alone story anyway. Going in to episode 3 (1-3 in one day), I knew nothing about Macross but understood all the details pretty well.

I think I downloaded it once by accident. Tweeny witches or something? Started out with a girl falling off a part of her school building that was under construction and then ends up in a world where everyone else is a witch or something, right?Doom wrote:macross plus

Whatever happened to that t.a.t.u movie that was going to be made? I thought it was a pretty hilarious concept when it was first announced but Shinichiro Watanabe will apparently play a role in it. (? wtf ?)

Because I'm a lazy pirate, I'll need to find someone who has this old anime.

Yes, that's Mahou Shojoutai Arisu and it ownz! It's 50 episodes, if I remember right, and the raws are up to 25 or 26 while the subs aer still quite behind. Go watch it!Leftover wrote:I think I downloaded it once by accident. Tweeny witches or something? Anybody happen to know where I could download the raw to Macross Zero 5? l33t-raws hasn't posted it at all and I can't find any other raw groups for it.
Finally saw Yakitate! Japan episode 1 yesterday and I can see why everyone raves about the series. Definietly has an addiciting quality to it and I give props for the choice of voice actors/actresses. I still find it funny that Takehito Koyasu is in this.
I was skipping through my Viewtiful Joe raws when I realized that Joe was played by Tomokazu Seki. I was laughing so hard when he said "Henshin a Go! Go! Baby!"

Well, I havn't read the manga yet so I have nothing to compare the anime with. As soon as I do read the manga I'll probably have the same opinion as you do.TheDarkOne wrote:but Yakitate anime is far inferior to manga![]()
I was just watching an episode of Beck with a friend and the character designs for the anime remind me of Kare Kano's character designs. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same person. Anyways, I didn't really see the entire episode but from what I can tell it looked quite interesting. I suppose the manga is better than the anime as well.

I'm pretty sure Masami Tsuda and Harold Sakuishi are as unrelated as Gainax and Madhouse
any similarity between kyouki and arima is purely coincidential

So what's next now that I've caught up on Maria-sama?
(M-M-Maria-sama, M-Maria-sama!
Miteru, miteru!

Miteru, miteru!
Ichiou, Ichiou!
Sakura, sakura!)

Let me ramble off:
School Rumble
Gankoutsousous
Tweeny Witches
My Hime
Himeko no MIKODE
How many episodes are there to Maria-sama anyway Doom? 13? Why'd it stop?

I was just noting that it reminded me of Kare Kano's designs but since the characters designers are different then it is coincidental that the two are similar.Gray wrote:I'm pretty sure Masami Tsuda and Harold Sakuishi are as unrelated as Gainax and Madhouse

Time to watch Count of Monte Cristo...hopefully.

According to Japanese fansite Fullmeta.com, an official announcement regarding a 3rd Full Metal Panic anime will be made in the September issue of Dragon Magazine. Yasuhiro Takemoto is said to be the director, but not other details are available.

Don't you mean FMP and not FMA.
It looks like Dreamworks has licensed the Casshern movie. I don't know why anybody would want to license this horrible movie.

It is? I knew there was a rumor going around but this is the first time I've seen it "officially" announced.

speak of the devil
that's the fumoffu director btwNew Full Metal Panic (2004-10-29 17:31:27)
Kadokowa Shoten has officially announced that a new Full Metal Panic! TV series, Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid, is to be produced. The series will once again be directed by Yasuhiro Takemoto, but is expected to be a serious adaptation of the two Full Metal Panic! Owaru Day By Day novels.
Re: Ongoing Anime Discussion (now with October 2004)
pwn indeed
And I think Owaru Day by Day are the last two books in the original Full Metal Panic novel series. There was a group translating it but I forgot the name and I've lost the link to their site since. Anyways, yea, this will be great.

nope, they're followed by A Dancing Very Merry Christmas, which is currently being translated (End of Day by Day having been finished).
