SG's Favourite Biscuit

Post by Damien »

It's the season of over-indulging on shite that's bad for you, so I decided to swipe the top ten in the bad UK Channel 5 list show that was on the other day and ask SquareGamer what their favourite biscuit is. Many of you may have different names for these snacks (or not be familiar with them at all), so feel free to ask questions (or use [google]Google.com[/google] :tea :buu

Disclaimer. ALL answers are "Undine" in this poll

I've not had a lot of these and a number aren't vegan anyway, but I like ginger cookies so I went with ginger nuts. The bourbons are also vegan and are probably a good choice, but I've never had them either.

I picked Jaffa Cake becuase the packaging in SG colours and we used to give them away on the site in 2G5/6. I also ate most of a pack of them just yesterday.

Why hasn't everybody voted? I'm not disputing the 75% Jaffa Cake win, but we at least need all the regulars voting in the polls :boo :sadtea

Interestingly I was given a pack of Jaffa cakes as a Christmas present this year (yesterday). It seems a bit random since last time I had Jaffa Cakes was probably in like 2005/2006.

Proper McVittie’s Jaffa Cakes?
Polish shops do pretty good raspberry Jaffa cakes.

Why is McVitties the dominant brand for everything?

They're the dominant biscuit brand. They used to be the only company making Jaffa Cakes as well.

I chose Jaffa Cake because I don't know any of the others. I swear half of the list is made up names.

I voted Ginger Nut on this and when I did my biscuit test Ginger Nut was the winner with Bourbons being a close second. Of course, I never quite finished that because I didn't get my Jammy Wheels.

But if they got returned when the store sent them, they might get returned when you send them too.

They also seem pretty similar to a type of cookie we have here so maybe I should just look for those.

Dunno what the German consensus is on baked goods, but I do enjoy simple self-made shortcrust cookies with glacé icing (sorry, I had to look up these terms, not sure whether they are common).
Sorta like these, but with less pretentious design: https://meinkeksdesign.de/wp-content/up ... UR7239.jpg

Store-bought, I like Russian Bread: https://www.amazon.de/Bahlsen-ABC-Russi ... B003SEI7SM. Oooh, and Stroopwafel (it's Dutch I think), if that counts as a cookie.

The iced shortcrust cookies are probably like the "Party Rings" we get here.

Looks somewhat similar, but I guess what makes these special is that they're homemade :D.

Oh and do I get extra props for liking scones with clotted cream or is that too snobby?

Scones aren't biscuits (except for American biscuits, which are pretty much savoury scones). That is a discussion for another thread!

Alright, let's start a cake thread then. I can contribute more on that topic anyway. :spooge
