Vibes Art (x2)

Post by Vibing_V »

What have I been up to art-wise lately? Not *too* much. :p I have a couple of things in the works but find that if I don't do stuff all in one go it takes forever. :( (sorry Tim! :heh)

Anyway, I whipped this up for my friend last weekend as a birthday present:
http://www.deviantart.com/view/10900668/
(full view plz!)

Took approximately 6-7 hours, done all in photoshop 7.0 with my tablet. I traced the shape of the face from a photo so as to get it right, and used it as a reference for the face shading. The hair didn't have any direct reference.

I realize the face looks big because the rest of her is a big small proportionately (at least, the torso is and likely the neck) - but the focus is the face so it doesn't concern me.

The version I gave her has pretty stars and "Happy Birthday" written on it so it doesn't look quite as plain. :p

With any luck, if I don't completely suck, I'll do more artwork in the coming weeks for th 978456937469 birthdays in October!

You know what's scary? I actually KNOW some Asian girls who are like that (big head, tiny tiny body) because they're so thin. :(

For this one, I like it~ Her eyes look incredibly real. The angle of her face is good too; the Asian face structure is rendered correctly.

The only one compliant I have is the hair near her ears kinda look like sideburns. D:

Oh and coloring is sexellent, as always. Do more do more do more~

I like it a lot, it's really good! ^_^
Though the hair near her ears do look a bit strange, and I think her eyebrows don't look as good as the rest. But imo the eyes, nose, lips,... are excellent. :check :check

Hope you'll post more arts soon :D

O look, it's another art!

This is vectors (except the shine spot on the lip).

CLICK ME!!

The left hand somehow turned out *okay*, but the other hand looks like it belongs to a puppet! XD Aside from that I'm quite pleased. Yes, the face + hair are traced. ;(

Somehow, I feel the need for eyes to exist through those glasses.

The first one you posted has some incredible coloring.

a lot of vector art are based off of traced techniques anyway. it's good, I like it. :D

I should learn to do stuff like that, but I have no patience to learn and mess with the curves and whatnot.

It took me a looooooooong time to actually not FUCKING HATE the curvy properties' of PS's pen tool. But more recently I've come to get the hang of it! :D It's actually kinda fun now and I can get things to work (somewhat) the way I want them.

For some reason it took me a very long time to realize that the line that appears for toggling the curve affects the next section of line by pointing in the direction that the next section will go. Dunno why, but I only just figured that out recently. Now that I understand how it actually works I actually look forward to using the pen tool instead of despising it! :p

I have mixed feelings on tracing. I mean, if you traced something then it's not really *your* art. But when you're not used to proportions and lines and such, I think it can be good practice. Helps get you the motions a bit. Nothing can compare to simply observing, practicing, and persevering though.

The result is impressive, I wouldn't be able to use vectors at all =/
But why does he wear sunglasses indoors? :p
