The botspam problem here at SG has recently been quite a bit over the top, and was continuing to get worse.
I've therefore taken the decision to pretty much close registration on SG.
Basically the plus outweighs the minus.
I don't think 2G8 has yet seen a genuine new member that's stuck around for more than five seconds.
If a real new person wants to register for the site, they still can, but an admin will have to approve them before they can post. I'm sure if somebody wants to be a member that much, there'll be avenues obvious to them.
On the plus side this means that we'll be seeing less and less thread full of dodgy stills from grainy German movies.
On the minus side it means that our trusty little team of admins will have to twiddle their thumbs or find something else to do in their windows of free time.
We'll continue to try to find a system that works for the site, and will let you know as soon as full registration is back open.

Just a quick note to wish you a very Merry Christmas from us as Squaregamer.
Mainly though, I want to move those 6 month old news posts out of the way

As some of you may already know, the most high one is truckin' off on holiday for a couple of weeks.
While I'm gone, I've decided to pass the general running of SG into the (hopefully able) hands of forum member Yuka.
What Yuka says GOES!
Anyway, you all be nice to her, and I'll be back in July.
