Five

Mon Sep 05, 2005 12:48 am

I missed last week as I was tired from being in Essex and had to get up early to get to Victoria for MegaBus down to Bournemouth.

I've had a tiring week and a bit. 10 days gone with 2 nights in my own bed and 3 early nights and 8 early mornings. All have been fun filled days.

This week is 'get things sorted and find a fucking job' week. Any job will do, just so I get some freaking money.

This is all, except - eat more toast

The past week has been tiring.

Most of the week was spend doing nothing much. I should have been job-hunting though. Nevermind.

I took my theory test on Friday, passed, and then went to a film set, which was just a house in North London. I was lighting director for the rest of the day and all of Saturday. In fact I started work at 8am Saturday morning and finished at 1am Sunday. It was a lot of fun.

Sunday I went to Maranatha's 1980's price and then I was going to plan the music video for acustic version of Dirty Kuffar, but that didn't happen. Instead we discussed fucked up film ideas that'll probably work. So I'm going to start writing them.

Filming a gig tomorrow. I should really try to find work, for money.

I forgot to make an entry yesterday. Nevermind. I was busy and lazy.

I was in Bornemouth over the weekend with damien.

Bornemouth is alright but it has a lot of pikeys for what should be a place where people go to retire.
It was good to see friends and stuff.

Went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I was in Dorset, the only films shown there were American. On top of that I'm (mildly) interested in what Tim Burton is doing since he became a sell out. Johnny Depp and Danny Elfman are Burton's guardian angels.

If you are interested in political satire or find it entertaining then I recommend you watch 'Silver City', currently on general release cinemas in the UK.

The access to non-Hollywood films in the UK is pretty dire.
The 8 million inhabitants of London have around 12 cinemas which show independent, arthouse and, on the whole, rarer films.
The 56 million inhabitants outside of London in the UK have around 12 cinemas which show independent, arthouse and rarer films.

In general, if people had the choice between:
a) a film directed by the director of Pearl Harbour and Armageddon starring Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson, or
b) a film directed by the director of Dancer in the Dark and Dogville starring a bunch of kids,
people would go for (a) over (b). Which is why there is such little choice outside of London, because the demand for smaller films isn't high enough to justify distributing it further than London.

Average price of petrol is now 90p per litre. When I pass my driving test, whether it be first, second or ever, I think I'm going to get a bike.

The FTSE 100 closed up 29.60 points today, closing at 5344.30
