Have you visited both locations in a pair of terrestrial antipodes?

I am certain I have not, as my life on Earth has thus far been restricted to the Northern Hemisphere.

Given that the infinite set of land-land antipodes is a much smaller infinite set than the infinite set of non-land-land antipodes, air or sea travel that conceivably passed through the antipode of another location you've visited is an acceptable talking point.

Begin.

- Chrono Trigger

I have not. I have, however, cast Antipode 3 on Lavos many, many times.

Please explain the relationship between the spell Antipode 3 and terrestrial antipodes in as much detail as you know or are able to convincingly invent.

The RDM never got much use out of team techs in Chrono Trigger.

Team techs are a fun mechanic. I like Chrono Trigger. Chrono Trigger is a good game, and worthy of discussion in The Antipodes Thread.

Chrono Trigger is on the list.

The RDM can't believe he sold his CT cart to the Minion. Terrible mistake.

At the same time, he later found a new CT cart for 1/9th of the price he sold his for...so wonderful mistake?

Chrono Trigger must be one of the most expensive used SNES games in general? I think I still have the box and manual and everything.

The water element and fire element from which Marle and Lucca draw their powers sit at antipodal points on the sphere of magic from which all magic is sourced.

Chrono Trigger was even expensive when it was released. I seem to remember it being something like $70 or $80.

Interesting. I'm interested in this sphere of magic. Can you tell us more about it? First we should decide whether this is an appropriate topic for The Antipodes Thread. What do you think?

Well, the world being an oblate spheroid, it's pretty close to on-topic.

Earthbound is possibly the most expensive of all SNES games these days.

Are things bound to antipodal points on Earth in Earthbound?

I don't think I have actually, because I've been to very few places located south of the equator. I guess I will have to double check though. Anyway, I highly doubt it.

Also making it harder by having too much water here. For people who can't swim, it's much harder to go stargazing in the south.

I just want to bring the Antipodes Thread to Asaroth's attention. Perhaps he has been to a pair of terrestrial antipodes.

EDIT: As a reminder, you can also discuss Chrono Trigger here.

Whoa North Korea has a land-based antipode? That alone makes them (and Montevideo) special!

I was thinking about Mecca today, as one does, and it occurred to me that, at the antipode of Mecca, a Muslim could pray in any old direction! Naturally, this should make the antipode of Mecca a mecca for Muslims.

Unfortunately, as is so often the case with antipodes, the antipode of Mecca is open ocean. It is only a few tens of kilometres from Tematagi Atoll in French Polynesia, though! I was pleased to see that this is addressed on the Tematagi Wikipedia entry, where they point out that the correct direction of Muslim prayer varies widely between Tematagi and its archipelago neighbours.

Flying direct from London to Tokyo on Sunday, staying in a 5 star hotel in Odaiba from Monday to Friday, and then have a week long Japan rail pass to take us to Hiroshima, Kobe, Osaka and back to Tokyo for the last 3 days.
