Final Fantasy XIII finally has a release date, so rather than dredge up an old Waward/HKK topic that starts with flaming, I'm going to start a fresh one.

Square Enix have revealed in a press conference that we weren't invited to that the Japanese release of stupidly long awaited PS3 RPG Final Fantasy XIII will be December 17th 2009, (at the not all that modest price of ¥8800) just in time to probably not get it for Christmas.
They also revealed the theme song, "Kimi Ga Iru Kara" (Because I Have You?), a power ballad performed by Sayuri Sugawara ( http://www.last.fm/music/Sayuri+Sugawara ).
The event was wrapped up with a screening of the latest trailer.

Square Enix boss Yoichi Wada remains hopeful that the game will be released internationally during Spring 2010.

Lots of people are buying PS3s now that the slim is out.
I'll be importing the Japanese version, wven though it's going to cost an arm and a leg (£80)

y not wait for the euro version, that's also going to cost an arm and a leg, but at least it wouldn't be a total of 2 arms an 2 legs. Because we all know you're going to get both

I always play Japanese Final Fantasies.
This is the first time I've not needed a mod chip or ninja disc swapping skills to do so.
It's also out in time to hopefully just make it for Christmas, when I'll actually have time to play games.

I understand the menus etc enough to play, but don't bother reading story text etc.
Voice acting helps somewhat, but I know very little Japanese.
I can still guess what's going on (easier as games have become more animated), and play through the games, plus these days there are story walktroughs/translations available for stuff like that online.
It's still a game, even if you don't understand every bit, and it being in English a few months later makes it worth a second/full playthrough.

Hmm, I get what you're saying, but I played Crisis Core and Dissidia in Japanese and then in English and I vastly preferred the English versions as I actually knew what I was doing and didn't need to guess every little thing. It was definitely more fun that way.

Those are different though and slightly more throwaway. I also normally play with a crowd of people.

I've almost unlocked everything, so now I think I've seen and done everything I'm starting to get bored.

The two secret characters are both shite.

The game's coming out March 9th 2010 in America on both formats.
I guess this means we in Europe might be hopeful if expecting it by this time next year
The theme song is a Leona Lewis album track! Shock

Edit: We're apparently getting it on that date too! Shock!

I probably won't. I played though most of 8 and 9 in Japanese, some of 10, and a bit of 12 though, so It's kinda' tradition. Plus it'll be Christmas, and I'll have time off.
I managed to finish Modern Warfare 2 the other day Shock

my co-worker just let me borrow Modern Warfare 1 so i can see what all the fuss is about.

am mainly playing Demon's Souls though.

i played the FF13 demo at Cjo's and with my limited Japanese i could get a good gist of what was happening. I'd consider getting the full version but I know id get fed up quite soon.

I'll make up the story myself, or read the FAqs etc online.
I managed to fully enjoy FFVIII and that was back in the day when finding details about the game I was playing was hard to impossible.
I'm mainly getting FFXIII because it's tradition, and because I can!

And yeah, I still don't understand what the Modern Warfare fuss is about :/

Oh I have played it. Played it before I even played campaign, and played about 2 hours in total, but still don't see the fuss.
My housemate is still totally addicted to playing CoD4 online, so it's not as if I don't know what the game's like online.

Split the Call of Duty chat from a point where it made sense as a new thread.
FFXIII out in under a month! Hope mine arrives in time to play over Christmas! Shock

There's a real small gap between the Japanese and European release isn't there? Normally I remember waiting ages for it to come out when the rest of the world already has it.

Well we actually get it a few hours earlier than America. Impressive.

FFXIII Amano Art

Just a week until the game's out now.
39/40 in Famitsu, means that FF12 is better!

FFXII got a 39'/40? That just goes to show Famitsu is worthless if we even needed further evidence.

FFXII getting a 40/40 still continues to mystify me. I've replayed about half of the game this week and I still hate it.

Yuka. I'll have FF13 in just over a week. For srs, you wanna come to London for a day or something some time around Christmas and review?

That probably didn't even play it, just read the title and went from there.

The RDM barely played an hour of it. Meh.

As much as I'd like to, I really can't.
I'm heading back up to Leicestershire for the festive season, and then I've got a Wales trip. Neither of which I have any money for, I'm pretty much living off other people's sympathy. So transport to London is out of the question as I wouldn't have two ten peas to rub together until sometime in February at the very least. :/

My life sucks right now. Sad

Again, no can do. My mother's playing the "This is our last christmas as a family before we emigrate" card so I've got to be at home, whether I want to or not. It'll be her last chance to yell at me in person instead of down the phone
