Tbh I think at one time, lots of the appeal was characters from one thing showing in another thing but we’re now totally used to this happening in absolutely everything (we’ve just had a game where Batman fights Tom & Jerry).
Saying that, I still find most of the films enjoyable and all of the TV shows at least watchable.

None of them are my favorite movies ever but most are at least somewhat enjoyable and several are quite good.

There are a fair few that were my favourite of the year they were released in but I generally have less time for TV and films now anyway.

Spiderman No Way Home 5Gs love

Multiverse of Madness 2Gs. They tried to shove so much in there that it really lacked important character/story development for everyone except Strange. Which, given the 2 side characters, is a lot of missing stuffs!

Guess I'm waiting for Love & Thunder to come out on D+ now.

I haven’t gone to watch it as I just can’t be arsed with the cinema anymore.

IDK when the last Marvel movie I saw in theaters was. Endgame? OR maybe I saw Spiderman Far From Home. I definitely haven't been in a movie theater since covid.

I subscribed to an unlimited cinema thing from 2G7ish until Jan 2G20. The cinema I mainly go to up here is cheaper than those I frequented in London. Worked out I would have actually saved money in 19/20 if I’d just bought standard tickets, so I cancelled. Good timing as this was just before Covid. Now I have a big screen at home and my tolerance for other people is at an all time low.

Ditto. I think the pandemic helped purge the last bit of socialness out of me.

I’d say Waward’s 2Gs for Wakanda Forever was fair. I found it a chore to watch for the most part. Loved the first one and went back to the cinema to watch it again a few days after seeing it the first time. Can’t imagine ever wanting to watch this one again.

I don't want to watch most Marvel movies again, but it was better than 2G. It was a bit too long (not uncommon for Marvel movies), but other than that I don't really know what you mean about it being a chore.

Nah it was 2G. Most MCU movies are 2G so it’s not an outlandish claim.

Not when you give a higher rating to Dr. Strange 2, one of the worst Marvel movies. Also, 2Gs is bad. Most Marvel movies are at least okay, so 2.5 minimum.

People can like different things and rate things differently, it’s fine. If anything, Doctor Strange was a bit too short imo.

2Gs is mediocre to me which is what MCU movies are as a baseline.
It doesn’t mean they don’t have redeeming qualities, like say, Uhm idk, maybe Persona 5 or avatar ways of water (see http://www.squaregamer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3910) don't have redeeming qualities.

Anyway looking forward to watching ant man on d+ on a few month. Pretty sure it’s going to be 2G too.

The series has jumped the shark for sure but I’m also a lot more apathetic to generic cinema that I was in, say, 2G7 where I’d go to see stuff like Transformers and think it’s good.

Transformers has always been a 1G for me. I saw it in theaters with freind's and very low expectations and they were met! love

I remember it being shit but I apparently gave it 4Gs at the time, according to Livejournal. I did add a comment saying that hopefully they don't make a shitty sequel. Haven't seen the first one since the shitty sequels so maybe it isn't as bad as I remember it being. 4Gs seems stupidly high from me though. Must have been very easily pleased that year.

Was it the same year as Josie?

Just seen Quantumania. After months of mainly hearing how shit it was, I didn’t think it was too bad. I think I enjoyed it more than Love & Thunder and Wakanda Forever. Saying that, I did fall asleep through about 10 minutes of it.

Love and Thunder was especially pretty meh, but even that wasn't as bad as a lot of people said. It was still better than The Dark World, easily. Dr. Strange still rates as the worst of phase 4 for its character assassination, but I haven't seen Quantumania yet. Will wait until I get back from Italy.

What”s cos I’m old?
I do think that my expectation based on the impressions of earlier watchers has ruined my viewing experience for all these Marvel films I’ve watched at home.
Can’t believe I used to be invested enough to rush out and watch them in a cinema on release day.
