Fun fact, the lead singer provided the vocals for most of the songs in the 2G1 Josie & the Pussycats film that I'm always banging on about. They're a 90's punk/alt rock band that took an almost 20 year hiatus.

Listening to it now. Not paying much attention but it is pretty enjoyable.

Much prefer something original to generic covers of the same classics.

I like the gigantic Sufjan Stevens Christmas collections I’m sure I posted here years ago. Good mix of originals and classics.

Kate Bush - 50 Words For Snow (2011)

This isn’t a Christmas album per se so I listen to it well into winter, but Christmas season is still when I usually start listening to it. Also it’s great.

Japanese group SEKAI NO OWARI's rendition of Silent Night, from a few years back.

And their latest single, which is also a Christmas single. it's called "silent" (no night here).

Oh hey I forgot you posted the above, I’ll check it out soon. I also came back here to post a Japanese one.

I’ve been listening to a few albums by Quruli lately, who I discovered because they contributed a song to the amazing “Rilakkuma and Kaoru” Netflix series. Anyway, turns out they have a decent Christmas single from a few years back called “Saigo no Merry Christmas”.

Despite them probably being the band I've seen live the most times, I was only this week made aware that Reel Big Fish made a festive EP in 2G14 Shock

I mentioned the Sufjan Stevens “Songs for Christmas” collection on page 1, and mentioned its followup, “Silver and Gold”. Since together they form 100 songs I wouldn’t blame anyone for not having jumped in (you should tho), but check out the very last track of the second one, Christmas Unicorn. It’s a 12 and a half minute Christmas epic that among other things integrates a Joy Division cover into the song towards the end. Santa

I do but I go out of my way to find weird Japanese and Swedish Christmas songs etc. It’s just that nobody wants to enjoy Christmas music anymore!

For better or worse, I’m just starting Neil Diamond’s 2G16 Acoustic Christmas, which I’ve never heard before.

Can Neil Diamond sing in 2G16? Not sure how he was ever so popular?

This album (which I paused for a while so I’m still listening to) is nothing amazing, but a decent Christmas album.

I don’t quite know why Neil Diamond became so mega-popular, but to his credit, he wrote some very classic songs, including Sweet Caroline, I’m a Believer, Red Red Wine, Girl You’ll Be a Woman Soon, and a bunch of others I’m forgetting or still don’t realize are by him.

Are we talking entire albums or songs? Britain has a very specific set of Christmas songs that do the rounds every year form the start of November (most from the early 70's to mid 90's). I'll chime in with what those are when I have my computer up and running Santa

This is a lesser known slightly strange Christmas album from a few years back.

Erasure: Snow Globe (2013)

It's partially covered Christmas classics, partially new songs that are loosely winter related.

This album gets better with age. Probably my favourite Christmas album now.

I haven’t been in the mood for Christmas music as much as usual. Sad Tea That said I’ve still been listening to a decent amount.

Christmas no longer feels like Christmas because I'm just at home. I think it's all the outside influence that did it in the past.

Don’t think I’ve mentioned it, but Harry Belafonte’s Christmas output is excellent.
