It's at least a solid 3.5 on a scale of 5.

One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, Josie & The Pussycats, Save the Green Planet, Wreck-It Ralph, Adulthood. My favourite film on most years gets 4Gs.

All scale of five rankings must be inflated! 3 means terrible, four means passable, five covers the entire spectrum of "goodish" to "the best movie ever." This is Intarnet law.

Captain Marvel was pretty good.

Still not enough to it to make it a 4. Best MCU (Winter Soldier, Black Panther, Guardians, Infinity War) are 4.

On page 73, LG said this before Quintaposting. This might have been the fastest pages until page 888! ruroken

Also double standards boo

You definitely see the spike in speed there in the LP2PW plots. Not sure yet if 888 beats it!!

Guardians and Black Panther are overrated IMO. They're good, but not best of MCU good. To be clear, neither is Captain Marvel.

We had a page before 888 that we completed in just over an hour. I think that one was faster than 73. Not sure how fast 888 was because I barely participated.

I looked back and page 888 took like 9 hours. We've had much faster pages than that. Even if I had octoposted, it still would have been a longer page than 73 or that other page. We'll be able to compare it in stats soon anyway, assuming page 1000 doesn't break the forum.

Winter Soldier is overrated. All three Captain America movies were kind of bad. Winter Soldier was the best of the bunch, but it was still not good.

Uh. This is a bad take. I don't even care for the Captain America character, but all of the movies were at least decent. Civil War was great, except for the problem that the villain felt tacked on and kind of pointless. If it weren't for that, it might have matched Winter Solider. Winter Soldier is one of the best, if not the best, MCU movies.

Also, you could have put that shitty take in page 14 of the favourites thread to get us through that page even faster (we did pretty good though anyway)/

It's a good take and a correct take. Civil War was a waste of a really good comic storyline, along with a really good villain. Winter Soldier was mostly just overlong and boring. It felt like there was about an hour of movie, stretched out to fill two-and-a-half hours. Plus the shaky cam was ridiculous. "We're not going to bother having real fight scenes, just extended sequences of blurriness set to music."

Most super hero movies are 2-3 in my opinion. 2.5 being the point at which a movie starts being good. Some super hero movies might qualify as 4s but they’re exceptions imho. As for deserving a 5, a movie must have a special “replay” value in one way or another. I’m not saying I necessarily have to watch it again, but there must be at least some elements which make it worth watching again, and hopefully learning something new from it, if you rewatch it a decade later for example.

Quite frankly I would probably give Josie a 4 rather than a 5, however I think it’s one of the most underrated movie ever. It’s very clever and subtle, which is quite rare for a “teen” movie. Also, I totally agree that Save the Green Planet! is a 5, it’s one of the most unique film I’ve ever seen.

Not sure what recent movie I would give a 5 to. I’ve seen many ok movies that would deserve a 3 or a 4, but the last 5Gs movie I remember seeing in theater must be Inception. Although maybe I just feel like that because - among other things - Ken Watanabe was in it and I found him absolutely fantastic in Memories of Tomorrow, which is one of my favorite movies of the 21st century so far.

Anyway, rating out of 5 only is a bit difficult, many of my 5s would be 9s on a scale from 0 to 10. 0s being films like Ice Age 2.

Rate out of 1000 instead. More precision.

In 973 AD, King Edgar the Peaceful of England marches with his army north to Chester. His (peaceful?) navy meets him there via the Irish Sea. This (peaceful?) show of strength persuades the 'Northern Kings' to submit to his (peaceful!) overlordship.

Mostly just the juxtaposition of his moral philosophy and life's work with a culture that's arguing over whether or not the guy who murdered 50 people actually hated anyone and such. It's kind of stark just how large a portion of the conscious behavior in this world is objectively awful.
