Sure you're not. We all know the name Damien comes from noted Christian works such as The Omen and South Park.

I'm Catholic and Damien gives up more stuff for Lent than I do.

Are you religious at all, LG, or just "culturally" Catholic?

I have a friend who's a fellow apostate, and we generally do it as a kind of bet just so we can spend 40 days taunting each other with the things we gave up via texts and twitter.

There's a lot fewer things you can give up for Lent when you're already vegan that doesn't consume much alcohol.

I could give up oil like the Eastern Orthodox do, but that's hardcore fasting.

I thought that was just olive oil, and only on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Though I guess some interpret it more broadly, much like Mormons avoid anything that's a stimulant or depressant as a broad interpretation of a passage in "Doctrines and Covenants" to avoid "hot drinks" and "mild barley drinks".

Guess Mormons have a problem with the TBB.

At least they can still enjoy biscuits. But they'd have to dunk them in milk instead.

Milk and biscuits is a thing. We used to get rich tea-like biscuits with milk in nursery/primary school.

Bourbons and custard creams are good because they're super cheap. There's no definitive brand of either of them (they all have the same design though. Not sure how that's decided). I've always preferred the later though.

I couldn't find vegan custard creams. I may have seen something of the existence of a vegan brand (I forget) but I couldn't find it on amazon either way. I generally prefer chocolate though anyway.

Do you plan on reviewing any scones, or does that stray too far from the TBB's authority?

I might do that, but probably not American biscuits that Damien's calling scones. Savory biscuits are a bit too different.

Scones aren't biscuits
Jaffa Cake is the furthest acceptable deviation.

Apparently this distinction has significant economic consequences in the UK.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7340101.stm

Quote:
Under UK tax rules, most traditional bakery products such as bread, cakes, flapjacks and Jaffa Cakes are free of VAT, but the tax is payable on cereal bars, shortbread and partly-coated or wholly-coated biscuits.

Yeah there's too much on one of those for it to be a biscuit. It's a biscuit inside a round chocolate bar!

Jaffa cakes, apparently, are the daywalkers of British bakery goods.

Have you tried the Lotus Biscoff biscuit spread before? It's absolutely incredible (and around 1 million calories per jar)

Hi SG btw

I was on the original SG, then I registered here and never posted.

I've checked here every few years out of interwebs nostalgia but I thought I'd actually log in and post this time ;p

May I also suggest 'Royal Dansk Danish Butter Cookies'. If you do buy these make sure you hoard all the 'Vanilla Ring Cookie' variants!

The packs have recently shrunk from 12 cakes to 10 (multipack packs now have just 9), and Brexit is being blamed. The 3 packs are snack packs to put in children's lunch boxes etc.

What's the size of a pack? Is it like one of those McVitie's rolls for digestive biscuits? Smaller? Bigger?

The full size pack of Jaffa Cakes us like a shorter pack of digestive biscuits, inside a box. The 3 pack are laid flat in a plastic-wrapped tray, slightly overlapping one-another.

Starting to get annoyed at how long it's taking for the last few biscuits to arrive. I know it's international, but seriously these were ordered almost a month ago now. Status says by Feb. 14 now but that was maybe the far end of the expectation initially. I best get at least one tomorrow.

I got some lotus biscoff because I was tired of waiting.

I got two biscuit types in the mail today ... except .... drama. The first biscuit type was the Plain Chocolate Digestives I ordered (I'll be updating the first post with an entry on them in a bit). The second though was Milk Chocolate Hobnobs! Obviously, not vegan, and not what I ordered. The Chocolate Chip Hobnobs use plain chocolate. As evident from the name, the others use milk chocolate. Making matters worse is I waited on these for nearly a month and if I actually wanted Milk Chocolate Hobnobs, I could just buy them at my local grocery store. Frust

Edit: Added the blurb for Plain Chocolate Digestives on the first post now.
