Uh everyone knows FFXIII is the worst FF.
Going multiplatform was a yuge mistake. Never has a bigger mistake has been made in gaming history. Sad!

I have been enjoying this despite not liking it back when I had it on PS2. All of the quality of life stuff in this version are essential for me playing it.

Sped up gameplay would probably have helped me enjoy it more the first time, but I don't know if it's enough that I would want to play through it again, let alone pay for it again.

A lot of the more recent Final Fantasy ports (FF7 and 9 at least) let you speed up the game. It's generally a button you press to change it to double speed and back again.

Double speed would be especially good for FF9, which gets ridiculously slow.

You press a button and square Enix creates a black hole behind you so that your gravity is much more significant than the ps4's and you perceive it to go faster.

Bonus side effect you age slower!

Pretty sure any age slowing will be offset by the negative effects of high gravity.

Because it wasn't clear to me. Could mean literally the whole game is in fast forward (sounds like that's it), could mean in-game time just passes faster (I forget if in-game time is even a thing in FFXII), could mean you can level up or run faster or battles are faster or something.

I'm actually impressed with myself for holding off purchasing this. I want to finish Persona and then start/finish Tales of Berseria before thinking about starting long games that I've finished before.

I haven't tried the remaster of XII yet, but the speed-up option kinda' ruined the feel of FFVII whenever I used it (that and the Limit Break/heal buttons ).

When backtracking for quests, which happens alot, the speed up option is a god send. It's also great when you are searching for hunts in areas you have been to previously.

In new story areas I tend not to use it until at the very least i've tweaked my gambits for that area and have been obliterating enemies. I'm not sure what you would be gaining from refusing to use it. The battles are in real time and mostly run automatically. I'd rather switch the speed up when feeling a little impatient on progressing than putting the game down.

I remember regularly falling asleep (and being in zero danger due to overlevelled characters and good Gambits) while travelling in FFXII, so I imagine the speed-up feature is of great use in this game.

Nothing so far. I may try to sell some old game stuff to cover the difference for a new one. I was listening to the reorchestrated soundtrack today at work and it got me super hyped for the remaster.

I mean it wouldn't be the worst investment. I have a lot of Steam games I've never played. Mostly indie games I could play on my laptop and just don't (who wants to play games on a computer screen?) but a few larger, more CPU-intensive games too.

The RDM is actually considering giving the Steam version a shot. That would probably be a big waste of money that he never winds up playing, though.

To be fair, decade-old computers don't feel quite as useless as decade-old computers did a decade ago.

Or maybe I just cared more a decade ago.

Probably because computer specs haven't increased by much in recent years. That said, they do seem to stsrt wearing down faster.

I haven't tried my NES in decades. I'm not sure where it is and it probably hasn't been stored in very optimal conditions, so it's unlikely to work. Besides that, it was always hit or miss whether it was going to work in the later years of its use. Had to put the cartridge in an out a lot of times before it would start up.

Mucking with the cartridge is just a fact of life with NES, even when it's working pretty well.

I do recall my stepdad getting our NES serviced once, and the cartridge slot feeling a lot "tighter" after that. I wonder if that played a part in extending its life.

The RDM's NES still works. He and the children were just playing the SNES yesterday, though the power connection on it is a bit spotty. Jostle the system too much and it comes unplugged. The PSX is definitely dead.

In the normal box it's 11 now. The PC version sent the PS4 version plummeting in price. I hear it runs a lot nicer.
Anyway, yet again I get dicked on price.
