Elsa was born May 25th at 12:32 am on GEEK PRIDE DAY. She weighed 8lbs 4.3oz and was 20 inches long. I'm too tired to resize or edit pictures in any way so I'll just post the links.

I guess since Frozen came out in late 2013 I can only label this an innocent coincidence.

https://nametrends.net/name.php?name=Elsa

Look at that 2014 spike! Almost takes me back to 1895.

Interesting that the name had already been gaining in popularity before that.

Also, sorry CE for analyzing your daughter's name so much. Frozen aside, it's a nice name!

Yeah she was obsessed with Frozen. One day, she wanted to watch it for the x43098234902384th time. She kept telling me that she wanted me to watch it with her on the couch. I watched it and then she said she wanted to watch it again so I restarted it AND she wanted me to sit with her to watch it again. I said, "No." and then she asked why not. I said to her, "Well sweetie...I don't really like this movie as much as you do and I want to play a game on my computer." As I got up and walked to my office, I heard her mutter under her breath, "Well I don't really like you that much..." She was TWO!

Weirdo! I honestly don't get the (adult) fuss about that movie. And I enjoy plenty of cartoons and musicals and things with princessy lead characters. Often all of those things at once!

I didn't really think there was one. Other than a parent fuss because of the kids. I know my sister likes it (and also Moana) because they don't particularly emphasize a romantic aspect unlike a lot of the Disney princess type movies, but I think that's still mostly about the kind of message she wants her daughter to get.

That's a good quality to look for, to be sure, just ideally in a film that is also good.

I am interested in seeing Moana.

At the time, it was being haled as this powerful women's liberation/girl power movie. I've seen the movie at LEAST 15-20 times and that just doesn't hold up. Elsa freaks out, shirks her duties and pushes those closest to her away, and gives into her selfish desires and lets her power consume her. She ends up almost killing her sister (by being a dumb ass) and the rest of subjects but you know...you go girl. Anna gets engaged to the first dude she's ever met in like an hour and then gets saved by another dude like 20 times after first dude turns out to be a psycho who tries to kill her.

I didn't catch anything about it being an empowering female movie. Maybe it was considered that more in America.

That's because there isn't anything in the movie that conveys that it is an empowering female movie. But yeah, America pretty much sums it up.

So I hear they're making a Frozen 2. It's probably going to be about how they have a long lost sister that's even more powerful than Elsa or some shtick like that. They try to reach out with her with the power of love, but dun dun dun, her heart is DOUBLE FROZEN!

Okay, Disney sequels are pretty shit, but that seems extremely hack even for them. Like with all the Aladdin sequels they made, not once, to my knowledge, did they go the evil genie but also more powerful than Jafar route. Although I suppose having a whole movie about fighting evil genie Jafar was kind of close enough.

Disney are proper committed to cinematic sequels of popular films now. It's worked for Dreamwoks etc for years (and Pixar have been doing it pretty much since they started). Frozen 2 won't be a straight to video affair. Luckily, those without kids can mostly ignore it and wait for the buzz to die down.

For what it's worth, I remember really liking the opening sequence of Frozen. I thought it was stylistically interesting and it made me excited for the rest of the movie, but I was disappointed after that.
