I was pretty jazzed about Twin Peaks back in my teen-aged years.

How much of that was because of Heather Graham and how much was because of David Lynch?

Twin Peaks was great back then. I still enjoyed season 3, but it also disappointed me.

31337? Probably something before that, but I don't really know. 22222? 23456? Lots of possibilities.

Sidenote: someone arrange for the RDM to have a windfall of like 10 grand in the next couple months. It would be exceedingly helpful.

Maybe if you rebrand them as Bernie Babies you can sell them to some damn millennials. I hear they like to blow their money on dumb shit instead of saving up for houses and SUVs.

I don't consider myself a millennial. The term was coined (or at least popularized) too late for me to identify with it. I think of 90s kids as millennial. Maybe late 80s kids too, but not early to mid 80s.

I feel the same, but I've seen many definitions of "millennial" that include me.

Generation labels are pretty arbitrary and stupid, anyway.

Though they do facilitate complaining about those fucking baby boomers!

The RDM sees "Millennial" as pretty consistently starting in 1980.

It's BS though. They called us the MTV generation back them and only much later it became millennials. I didn't even like the old name and now we get a new stupider one that lumps us in with those 90s brats.

Serve them up with a side of avocado toast. Millennials wont' be able to resist!

Quote:

It's spelled Sneaux'phleique! boo

I really like the idea of the "Oregon Trail Generation" ie: those of us on the early end who saw life without technology but still had tech ubiquity young enough for it to form part of our identity. (But then that's just more MILLENNIAL SNOWFLAKE THINKING!)

But yeah, it's all arbitrary. Practically speaking, I think career timelines have a lot more to do with the "problems" felt by millennials. Most of my friends were well-established in their careers prior to 2008 so they were pretty much set. (Whereas I was not, and am now fucked.) Cry

Let's talk about Beanie Babies again. One wonders if there's any way some sort of marketing scheme could salvage their value. Chocobo ruroken

I thought the MTV generation was more Gen X. Though I think back then Gen X did extend a bit later so a lot of us would've been considered the tail-end of it (moreso than now).

I didn't mind the Gen Y label, but holy shit I hate all this redirectionist generational-warfare millennial shit-post crap the media is stuck on.

I started my "career" (quotes because I hope I don't stay until retirement) in 2012, a year after finishing my PhD. So I probably have a career path more aligned with millennials, I guess. Whatever.

Gen Y seemed reasonable. The RDM read about "Xennials" at some point, which is supposed to be approximately his age but not quite (a little older?). That sounded extra stupid.

Millennial definitely does encompass my age, but yeah, it's too new a word for me to personally use in anything other than jest.

I'm wondering how long it will take for me to catch up to Damien. He's still got a 7000+ post lead on me, so even if I post twice as much it would take until 25000+ posts. The real question is who will be the first to get to 31337 posts though!
