I'm still playing this game. At the rate I'm going it'll probably take me 120 hours to complete. I love this game.

That's nothing. Doom sunk 200 hours into it in the first few weeks or something like that.

I'd consider Zelda 2 somewhat more 'obscure' than Link's Awakening.

Even that has gotten more re-releases though. It's not obscure, it's just shit.

I agree with Cal at least that Link's Awakening wasn't obscure. But perhaps it is a bit now.

I don't know if Link's Awakening weas obscure. I didn't have a Gameboy though, so I didn't play it or even hear about it until much later.

He's cray cray. 200 hours of video games is what I get every 2 years.

Probably shouldn't play Persona 5, because it would take a year.

An actual in-game year? 8,760 hours?

It wasn't obscure, it was one of the GB's best sellers. The only reason people have forgotten that is because Pokémon became such a hit a few years later.

Wikipedia wrote:
Link's Awakening was critically and commercially successful. Critics praised the game's depth and number of features; complaints focused on its control scheme and monochrome graphics. An updated re-release titled The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX, known in Japan as Zelda no Densetsu: Yume o Miru Shima DX, was released for the Game Boy Color in 1998 featuring color graphics, compatibility with the Game Boy Printer, and an exclusive color-based dungeon. Together, the two versions of the game have sold more than six million units worldwide, and have appeared on multiple game publications' lists of the best games of all time.

The DX version sold another 2.22 million units.[70]

It would take Ward a year, I was saying. Although it does cover almost a full "in-game" year, but it doesn't count by hours, but rather by coarser segments of each day.

Also, 98? I always assumed it had been released much earlier than that. The graphics are poorer than Link to the Past. I know that's because it was Gameboy... but still.

It says 93 in that last quote.

EDIT: 98 was the colourized rerelease, DX.

Ah. Oops. That's what I get for scanning. Yeah, 93 is about when I figured it probably was originally released. Like I said though, I never heard about it until much later, so 98 didn't sound impossible to me.

The Wikipedia about Link's Awakening is actually quite informative.

The inventory aspect is true in most games tbh.
Except in Ultima Underworld, you couldn't get away with carrying useless crap in that game.

Have you actually played Ultima Underworld?
You can carry around useless crap if you want (bones, rocks, etc.), however if you do there's no more room for actual equipment, so you die pretty quickly. It's a good game, trust me.

Why should I trust you! Fake news!

Also I obviously meant being able to carry around useless crap without negative consequences.
