I'm still playing this game. At the rate I'm going it'll probably take me 120 hours to complete. I love this game.

That's nothing. Doom sunk 200 hours into it in the first few weeks or something like that.

I'd consider Zelda 2 somewhat more 'obscure' than Link's Awakening.

Even that has gotten more re-releases though. It's not obscure, it's just shit.

I agree with Cal at least that Link's Awakening wasn't obscure. But perhaps it is a bit now.

I don't know if Link's Awakening weas obscure. I didn't have a Gameboy though, so I didn't play it or even hear about it until much later.

He's cray cray. 200 hours of video games is what I get every 2 years.

Probably shouldn't play Persona 5, because it would take a year.

An actual in-game year? 8,760 hours?

It wasn't obscure, it was one of the GB's best sellers. The only reason people have forgotten that is because Pokémon became such a hit a few years later.

Wikipedia wrote:
Link's Awakening was critically and commercially successful. Critics praised the game's depth and number of features; complaints focused on its control scheme and monochrome graphics. An updated re-release titled The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX, known in Japan as Zelda no Densetsu: Yume o Miru Shima DX, was released for the Game Boy Color in 1998 featuring color graphics, compatibility with the Game Boy Printer, and an exclusive color-based dungeon. Together, the two versions of the game have sold more than six million units worldwide, and have appeared on multiple game publications' lists of the best games of all time.

It would take Ward a year, I was saying. Although it does cover almost a full "in-game" year, but it doesn't count by hours, but rather by coarser segments of each day.

Also, 98? I always assumed it had been released much earlier than that. The graphics are poorer than Link to the Past. I know that's because it was Gameboy... but still.

It says 93 in that last quote.

EDIT: 98 was the colourized rerelease, DX.

Ah. Oops. That's what I get for scanning. Yeah, 93 is about when I figured it probably was originally released. Like I said though, I never heard about it until much later, so 98 didn't sound impossible to me.

The inventory aspect is true in most games tbh.
Except in Ultima Underworld, you couldn't get away with carrying useless crap in that game.

I've played a few hours of BotW since getting back. Finally uncovered the entire world map and obtained the Master Sword. Now working my way towards the final Divine Beast. Also been ignoring the existence of Koroks a lot less (the the help of the mask), so I now have a few extra inventory spaces.
I now feel less like I'll never finish the game Mr. Green

Instead of deleting my and Fei's posts, you should also play UU one day, because it's pretty obvious this Zelda game drew some inspiration from it. It's not like I mentioned a completely random game, it was basically the first significant game to offer a completely open/non-linear map and tons of depth. The main difference was being a first person game, and played on PC rather than consoles, but apart from that there seems to be plenty of similarities with BotW.

BotW seems to be closer to UU than to Zelda games on the NES or SNES, apart from the fact you don't impersonate Link in UU.

I split the thread today. The deleted posts were mentioned at least a day ago.
FYI. The deleted posts happened at least 2 weeks ago and were emoji related offences after a warning.

They don't show up on the main computer that I use to browse SG and they're likely to be removed/replaced beyond our control in future. Not good for looking back at old topics. Don't want anybody to get used to using them instead of our smiley set.

Anyway, back off topic! OFF TOPIC!

Ganon took over Hyrule and wrecked shit 100 years ago, basically. The castle is where he lives.

I ventured too much into the castle and got to fight Ganon and beat it on my first try. Was expecting more of a challenge, but I guess all that exploring had me well equipped and all.

Still feel like exploring the game a little more before leaving it.

Have a nice day

I went to the castle after beating the 4th Divine Beast and was just messing about, seeing how close I could get, and ended up getting in to it and exploring all the way to the last boss. After beating it, I went back and got the rest of the memories (and a few more shield slots), and went back to beat the boss again and see the full end scene.

Leaving the game until the story DLC is out now. Got a Switch, so it's going to be annoying to be going back to Wii U fort this.
