Ever hear of the NES Classic they put out a year or so ago? Well there's now a Super NES Classic coming out.

Look at this fucking thing! Look at that game library!

http://gizmodo.com/the-super-nintendo-classic-edition-arrives-with-21-game-1796419063

I thought the NES Classic was kinda meh but this selection is fucking amazing. Mega Man X, Secret of Mana, freaking Super Mario RPG!

I more than want one. This would be like the perfect gift to start a newbie gamer out with. I can already think of like 3 people I want to give copies to.

But there's the problem...Nintendo kinda screwed the pooch with available NES Classics and they'll probably do it even worse this time around. Damn you Nintendo!

That, right there, is a killer lineup. The RDM would buy that system were it not for the scarcity issues.

These are some of the best games of all time. We're getting the same selection and a nicer looking console Check!

That is an amazing collection. I already own two SNES systems and most of those games either on cartridge or Virtual Console or disc collection, so I highly doubt I'll get it. But I approve! Check!

The RDM would mostly be getting it for Earthbound. And the fact that his current SNES has some power connector instability.

Pretty nice. It has some of my favorites (SoM, FF3, Yoshi's Island, DKC) and some I haven't played that I'd like (Earthbound). It's missing some of my faves too (FF2, CT), but that's ok, I guess. Still, it's a little dissappointing that it has fewer games than the NES classic. Fewer throwaway games though too.

Yeah, far more "real" games that proper time can be sunk in to. I'm happy that Europe are getting games that we didn't originally get (FF3, SMRPG, Earthbound). Star Fox 2 also makes the thing a worthwhile purchase. I managed to preorder one before all the websites shat themselves and ran out of stock. Will be doing a Talking Real with this for sure.

I've managed to get a preorder with Nintendo and one with ShopTo (just in case). Already seen sold eBay listings for up to £270. Idiots!

I definitely think it could do without Super Punch Out, with a better game in its place.

It's good to have several genres covered though. Super Punch Out is a game that many people are unlikely to have played. It's good to have a few discoveries in with the favourites.

That's true, but I feel the genre of punch out is close enough (though clearly not quite the same style) to Street Fighter, that it could safely be left out. I guess multiplayer Street Fighter really highlights it's not the same genre, but Street Fighter can be played single player, and in that there's some similarity to Punch Out. Also, almost every way in which Punch Out is different from a fighting game like Street Fighter is a way in which it's simpler.

I really wouldn't be harping on that though if I weren't thinking of all the great games they left out.

They're leaving the door open for a second SNES classic with another selection of games.

Which one game would you have replaced Punch Out with?

Also, if you think that's too many RPGs because they already have FF3, SoM, SMRPG, and Earthbound, I could go for DKC2 or Turtles in Time. Lots of choices.

There Japanese version has a slightly different selection.

-Panel de Pon
-Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem
-Ganbare Goemon: The Legend of the Mystical Ninja
-Super Soccer
-Super Street Fighter II

instead of

EarthBound
-Kirby’s Dream Course
-Street Fighter II Turbo-
-Super Castlevania IV
-Super Punch-Out

To be fair, I think we got the better selection of the two. Would gladly swap anything on the Japanese list for Earthbound. Super Castlevania IV is also a good addition.

They used up too many of the best games. If they had a second SNES classic, it would be the obviously inferior one, even if it included FFII, CT, and DKC2. Unless they keep some games in both editions and swap some games.

Yes.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disney's_Magical_Quest

It was actually a pretty decent game, which was surprising considering many similar franchise games released around the same time were just awful.

Edit: I think I only played the first one.

I'm so pissed because I was "watching" it or whatever on Amazon and never even got an email when the preorders became available. Not that I would have gotten one anyway because they sold out instantly, but it's the principle of it.
