Same here.
I'm not sure how I ended up so much on the left actually, considering I often agree with French centrist candidates when it comes to economic policies. Possibly some kind of bias in the way the questions are worded.

I got -8.38 economic and -5.38 social. In reality, I'm probably as bit more authoritarian than that on social, but the economic is probably about right.

I'm not sure it's scientifically valid. I suspect cultural biases, as well as linguistic biases. Not to mention religious biases in what constitutes the norm. Protestants are "naturally" more right-leaning, whereas Catholics and Muslims believe in supporting those in need. I'm obviously oversimplifying, but yeah, I'm pretty sure the test is kind of fake news.

It's true. My answers are mostly Catholic answers, with a little bit not so Catholic mixed in for the same sex marriage stuff, but mostly Catholic.

Yup, and this is why I say France is still very influenced by Catholicism, even if most people don't care about the "supernatural" aspects of religion these days. Philosophically speaking, the equality/fraternity part definitely stem from religion.

Well, I think I'm legitimately on the left, but not the left as it is understood in America (and perhaps the world today). I'm almost as opposed to neoliberals as I am to conservatives, but I think I'm pretty close to a classic liberal, maybe in the vein of FDR and LBJ.

Yeah as a nazi ventriloquist dummy.
The fucker's not even dead (allegedly) and this non-news is diverting front page headlines at a crucial time for the country. May must be delighted that her party are getting a two (or more?) day break from having to spin a dishonest campaign as something positive.

So the Tories have gained tons of seats in the non-London local elections. I'm really baffled how people can be seeing this party's actions and policies and thinking that it's good. Surely not that many of these new Tory voters can be rich and stable. The Conservatives really are using the whole Brexit thing as a vehicle to gain votes, and idiots are lapping it up. It'll come back and bite them and everybody else when May ends up doing a Trump on the NHS.

I was reading about that just now.
The only thing I'm happy to read is that UKIP lost like 10 seats in Lincolnshire, even in shitty places like Skegness.

Keeping in mind my 2 years living in Stamford, I'm not surprised by what's unfolding at the moment. London isn't the UK, and Manchester isn't either. Just like NYC isn't the US, and Paris isn't France.

Anyway, I'm not happy with the current turn of events but I can't say I'm surprised, I know exactly why I left the UK in the first place.

Edit: damn autocorrect.

To be fair, UKIP's only "thing" was to get the UK out of Europe. That and rampant xenophobia. Turns out they're not needed any more, now that the government are already pushing through pretty much UKIP's exact agenda, and it turns out most of the country don't need any further help to be racist.

That's what's expected. But anyway, we won't get any official result until 8pm French time, so early afternoon for us.

Not that it's statistically significant, but yesterday when I voted, the bin was full of Marine Le Pen ballots.

Between Le Pen and Wilders going down, maybe we've seen the last of the ethnocentric pseudofascist election victories.

Interestingly, results in France are pretty damn close to what pollsters were forecasting.

@LG, I don't know, I just find it odd that a country in Western Europe has blasphemy laws, especially if that specific law is from 2009.

The outcome in the US was pretty close to what pollsters were predicting, too. Most had Clinton winning the popular vote by around 3% coming in to election day. 538 had Trump 10% more likely to win the Electoral College than to win the popular vote. The RDM still has no idea why people were acting so blindsided when everything pointed to a dead heat in the last couple weeks.

London's increasingly right wing biased free Evening Standard paper are already spinning the French election results as something negative. "MACRON TARGETS CITY OF LONDON" is what they're going with on the front cover tonight, complete with the French flag photoshopped over a photo of London.

The firing does seem suspicious...probably unwarranted. Im allowing for extraneous factors I dont know about. I certainly wouldnt have fired him over that.

Of course Trump may see him as a roadblock if he actually intends on following through with his criminal charges against Hillary Clinton bullshit he was spouting during the election...

My faith in Trump's word has been completely eroded though.

@Damien, they need a scapegoat to explain why the City might not be able to secure passporting rights, when in fact their hard Brexit bs is the real reason why the City is gonna lose thousands of jobs anyway.

There's been so much gaslighting going on these days and all this alternative facts spinning is getting old. As for Comey, it does smell like there's something fishy going on.

Apparently Paul Ryan was visiting some school in Harlem yesterday, and Surprise!, there were plenty of protestors there to welcome him. What did they even expect, not only coming to NYC, but also to an area which will be hard hit by all their ridiculous policies?
