I can't imagine Persona 5 being better than this. My GOTY 2G15 was MGS5 and this is leaps and bounds ahead of that.

Are you saying it's worth getting a Switch for Breath of the Wild alone? I bought both PS3 and PS4 for Persona 5. I know, jumped the gun a bit. Both consoles are worthwhile anyway.

I wouldn't say it's worth getting any console for a single game, but BoTW is a fantastic launch title (even if it is just a Wii U port). I'd recommend everybody try to play it at some point.

PSX was worth the price for FFVII alone. Not that there weren't plenty of other good games. Still my favorite games library for a console to date.

I have to say, the PSX was pretty impressive. Especially as the games were so much cheaper than SNES games.

But you can have my Wii U for only 10 hundred dollars! I'll even sign it.

Do you see any future Switch releases being games you might want to play

I just ordered Wii U BotW on Amazon. It says it will ship in 1-2 months. Hopefully this is just a super conservative estimate reflecting general uncertainty.

Good news: it shipped... yesterday, I think? So not 1-2 months, as I'd suspected.

I'm usually bad with open world games but this game is amazing and relaxing. For once I am able to take my time with the game and not feel like I have to complete it.

Bloodstained was announced as coming out on the switch which i think it's perfect for. Certain games I will get on switch over other consoles.

Not sure what Bloodstained is. Why will it suit the Switch? For portability, or other reasons?

It's the spiritual successor to Castlevania. The good 2D ones. It was a kickstarter by the guy who used to work for Konami. Just think it works better as a portable title.

Also, I guess I need to make 3 GB free on my Wii U or something?

That'll be for the entire game downloaded from the e-shop, rather than the installation/software update of the disc version.

To stream Wii U games, you'll need a decent computer and a game capture device that's about twice the price of Zelda.

It is very fun. When I got back from Sweden on Monday, I had the day off and played the game a lot. Kinda' got lost without good weapons. This was the first time I'd gotten annoyed with the game. I then realised that I had tons of Amiibos and just touched them one by one until I had a half decent weapon. The weapons breaking too easily and the silly food cooking are the only aspects of the game that I don't like. I honestly don't think I'll ever see everything the game has to offer though.

I like the cooking, though I don't like being limited to one cook at a time. But I really dislike how quickly the weapons fade. It's the only thing that stands out to me so far as being a real detriment. (Still a noobie only 2 shrines in.)

You grab ingredients and throw them into a pot to make potions and cooked foods that give buffs. There's a lot of experimentation involved and I've found myself cooking for 15 minutes +

I don't particularly find it fun, but some people might. It's a little clunky and you can waste rare ingredients experimenting.

Or you can google recipes like me.

I like the feel of the cooking (aside from not being able to batch) but it's certainly not my preferred crafting system in terms of efficiency or what I'm used to (crafting menus, queueing up multiples).

But the song and dance are so fun!

I'm trying my best to not look at guides and stuff, as it seems like the game's designed to be a personal experience. I'm still really glad I never watched or read any preview trailers or articles.

Yeah. On the surface, it looks like it might play like a generic Ubisoft sandbox open map game, but it really doesn't. Totally perfects the genre.

What did you think of FFXV btw? (We have a thread for that)

WTF? You've played 200 hours of Breath of the Wild already?

I'm still not all that far, but I am out of the Great Plateau. Just recently got my first horse.

I am loving the game. The cooking has only charmed me so far but I can imagine it getting tedious, precisely because of the inability to batch cook.

I only ever played a few hours of one Elder Scrolls game (Oblivion). My main vast open world experience is Fallout 3. I liked it a lot, but I never want to play it again.

I currently feel like this game wins over those ones (for me) by
(1) Its art style - stylized, not going for photorealism.
(2) Borrowing from Shadow of the Colossus - the ruins, loneliness, lizards, fruit trees, climbing and horseriding. None of these are unique to SotC, but it all feels a bit homage-y to me. I can't blame anyone for taking inspiration from SotC, especially when it's so well executed. I assume this has been discussed online, but I haven't checked.
(3) Being Zelda? Zelda games are incredibly good at tapping into Zelda nostalgia. I don't think this entirely comes for free--they put real thought and effort into it. This sort of thing is actually a real Nintendo talent.

I have a couple of horses, but after putting them in stables, I haven't used them. I do a lot of walking and a lot of climbing.
The Zelda feel is there through and trough, despite the game not really having the structure of a Zelda game, and almost totally lacking in music. In all, it really does feel like the biggest leap they've taken in the series for a long long time.
I guess I'm about 1/3 though the game at the moment. Probably won't finish by the time Person 5 arrives

I do appreciate a good leap in a Zelda game. It's maybe the biggest leap since Ocarina of Time? I'm sure nobody's said that already.

Also, you can literally leap in it. With a button press! Revolutionary.

Ocarina was a bad leap. Can't help but wonder if this is the same considering weapon durability, which is always stupid and never good.
