the only reason it get's annouced is because people don't check their inboxs. That is probably due to the fact that the PM notification comes in a pop-up window, which get's blocked, rather than anywhere on the homepage of the board. (Like under your avatar would be a good place). So no one know's when they've got a PM unless they either don't block pop-ups or check their pm box daily.

I do get an email notification but I have to admit I don't check my emails every day, not on that mailbox (the one I use for work mainly) anyway...  |

I remember there used to be some sort of popup that came up on SG when you get a PM.
