So.

Time for us to DO Paris. By request this thread has moved from ElJay to here...

I've told me housemates about this - not sure if any will be able to come due to time/monies/stuff, but will keep 'em in di loop.

It looks like the 16th & 17th Dec is the best weekend in terms of monies - need to Check!

with Alice if she is ok to come up that weekend.

Checked out flights, and they are about £85 per person (even BMI Cry

), which is the same as Eurostar, booked in advance. So, I suggest we do teh 'Star (less commuting around, since Waterloo is more central for SGWH, and GDN is closer to Paris itself).

Eurostar offer kinda package deals as well... so get a bit of a discount when booking a hotel at the same time. For shits and giggles, I quite fancy staying at a Hotel in the Troc ;p it is about a tenner per person more expensive than a cheaper one, but what the hell!

So, thoughts? Comments? Should I get's it on Monday?

But yeah, Eurostar is best, GDN isn't that far from Paris XVI and you can take the 42 to ~~the arcade where they have Supernova~~ central Paris from there.

Well, tbh the main reason why you can't be in the Troc is because the Troc in Paris is an 'Esplanade', not a building

K, so, hm, where to start

(lot's of online discussions happened while I was catching some zzz's, uh?)

Er, actually I liked the december 2/3 idea somewhat better... especially coz it was more soonish, tbh

(for the record, I've already finished one of the books you lent me on the train back home, might run short of them sooner than I thought

december 16/17 is semi OK for me.

The good points:
- it's later thus cheaper

- I've got nothing planned so far on that day
- it's my Saint's day, yay me

(as if I actually cared about that kind of shit

)

The bad points:
- it's my Saint's day, :onion (long story short: potential stupid family drama FTW

My emo-drama-queen of a dad actually does care about that kind of shit, and will probably start pouting and whining if he can't see me on that day (+ on Xmas, as I definetely don't want to be with them at that particular time of the year either, + on my birthday coz I've already something planned for New Year), and my mum will insist I make an effort so that she doesn't have to suffer through his bad mood, and that it's already bad enough that my sister won't be here and that my brother will say he's too busy (as if I'm not

), and I will be very tempted to tell them to fuck right off and get a fucking life, and not speak to them ever again (for a good month or so)... but will more probably eventually give in out of guilt coz I'm weak and stupid like that ... D:
K, actually, I'm not sure yet how things will turn out (hopefully not like this).

My best option would probably be to fully plan&pack my own busy schedule from now till 2007 and later on right now (ie, before the end of the week), then tell my parents when they're back from their current holidays the exact timeframe (hm, around december 9/10, maybe...) when they can see me if they want to and that there is no other option as all other days are booked, love it or leave it, coz I'm a busy person unlike them semi-retired lazy bums... Sounds like a plan

OK, all that shit is my own fucking business, obviously, just stating it to make things clear: as far as I'm concerned, my schedule is pretty fully open at the moment, but once things will start getting planned, there might be little room for adjustments, as I will have some OMG-improvisation-is-such-a-messy-business are-you-always-so-disorganized can't-you-make-up-your-mind-once-and-for-all you've-got-no-lessons-on-that-day-so-doesn't-that-mean-you're-not-working and-if-your-schedule-is-so-open-and-flexible-how-come-work-and-other-people-always-come-first-instead-of-us-btw emo-psycho-rigid people of my own to deal with

So, yeah, hm, decisions... Discussions first?
Both december 2/3 and december 16/17 are feasible at the moment. 2/3 sounds better to me just coz it's sooner and I'm a simple-minded person with a time horizon not exceeding one month, but tbh, if you can afford it (time&money wise), I'm up for both week-ends

... actually, I'm starting to think of a tentative plan involving some meeting in Paris from december 16 to december 17 (or even later the following week, since after all you've got some Xmas holidays after that, uh? Shock

And Paris is definetly worth staying there for longer than just a week-end)... directly followed by a trip to London?

(not sure for how long. If I listened to me, I'd be up for staying till Xmas or something, but now that sounds just a bit unreasonable, when taking into account trivial matters such as work and budget, + whether you guys actually want me to go over there and ruin the weather again

- not mentioning being a tramp sleeping on someone's sofa/bedroom floor/whatever and not paying a rent

Alice, just a few things:

- Don't give in to emotional blackmail.

- Chris will tell you himself but I know you're definitely welcome to spend Christmas at SGWH if you want.

- I think you should plan some meeting with Lucie in Paris so imo you should go both week-ends anyway. That and you've got awesome relatives there.

- What about going to Cannes sometime around Christmas/New Year's Eve? The fact that mum isn't talking to her mum anymore shouldn't stop you from visiting her. I kinda regret not going myself tbh and I'm definitely going to do my best to give her lots of news while I'm in HK/Shanghai.

I agree with all that:
- actually I'm pretty determined to not give in to emo blackmail and have my own fun, priorities are quite well sorted out in my own mind, don't worry (that drama trailer of mine was more of motivational trick, like a way for me to remember what I didn't want seeing happening

I'll do my best to anticipate getting stuck in such a situation, and to have thing go both my way and as smoothly as possible, hence the "Here is when you can come and see me. That is all. Deal with it" plan)
- I know that too but I prefer people telling me themselves coz I like to feel wanted, you know?

- Yeah, I was thinking about meeting Lucie in Paris at some point. Should discuss that with local friends too. And all the same I don't think Lucie and co would mind meeting some of my awesome relatives, and/or favorite brit fags

- I was thinking about visiting my granny as well (mum and her don't talk anymore again? Didn't know about that latest plot twist in the family drama, must have missed an ep or two O_o), just need to think exactly when (like I said, already got a plan for New Year, but Xmas is still mostly unplanned... will travel around a lot if I'm to see everyone I want to. Perfectly feasible, but tight schedule again, and will require some serious early planning if I want reasonably priced tickets.)

Ok... so have thought about dates etc. From your post above, I'm assuming that 2nd/3rd is actually bettAer for you (though I am confused... it seems ambiguous), so in absence of other information going to book that weekend (so let me know if this is not the case). Sadly, noes Troc get's Shock

though it'll be alright, I'm sure. Do you want us to get a 3-bed room, btw, or will you have other accomodation?

Personally, I'd actually be up for coming to Paris both weekends ;p However, funds are limited for people, generally, so I guess this is not really an option... so Paris re-get's early 2G7? Shock

Actually my guess is that there are more Londoners going to Paris on week-ends, than Parisians going to London, which means the cheap tickets for brits get sold out sooner.

Christmas plans still very fuzzy

Got a budget problem to solve (still waiting for the €2000+ the university owes me), + need more info from various people

Right. Sorry I've been out of contact for a while.

We can do 2nd/3rd, and it will be £233 total for Eurostar (so just under £117 each, prices have gone up since I first checked, as expected). This ok with you Chris? Just let me know if it is, and I'll get's it for us both, otherwise if it is too expensive it will invariably be cheaper to wait till the 16th (but only £15 each, tbh)

Alice: Yes, it would be delightful if you can book accomodation, as you know Paris 556x better than either of us; how would you like me to get peas across to you, though? Shock
