Run two copies on parallel OSes so every once in a while you can look back at the MJ zombie and sigh while you can still play the new version whenever you want.

He's been dead for a while.

And the whole world didn't pretend to fall in love with him the second he died. Come to think of it, people actually liked him while he was alive, so now they don't feel all guilty about it like they do with MJ.

This is why online game services are bs. If they can come in and destroy a game you paid for whenever they please, it's just not worth it.

Other than those obvious disadvantages, steam is 2nd to none, other than maybe PSN.

I always prefer the game on a disc/cart/tape.
They can update/improve a game as much as they want, but at the end of the day I still have the original item.
