I'm sure the argument is:

"How can you make fun of such a tragic loss of life?"

I'm pretty sure the answer is because we took the stick out of our asses a while ago. I suppose you could also argue the encouraged killing of other human beings kind of wipes that out, or some of the other things people generally make fun of (French dying, etc).

I'm sure all the friends and family members of those who died are laughing and throwing parties today. What's next, are you going to make a joke out of the holocaust?

Or something like this. I say to this - the Jews control the media I like, so I won't piss them off unless it's Vash.

The irony being, these are the same people who are so gung ho about the war in Iraq. Inconsistent much? Or maybe it's okay because only 1000 Americans have died there, and the rest of the casualties have mostly been towel heads.

That's what I was thinking, pretty much, how you can justify being upset at the murder of these people, but not worry about destroying and completely disrupting a society and their culture.

Personally, I'm of a divided mind about this, mostly because I think thisd joke was too forced to be funny. :p It's kind of like "you should be able to laugh at this by now, so laugh at this joke." In principle I agree, but it's just not working for me....

That and I don't think it's a good idea to provoke WFers because you know the reaction it will get there. It's becoming more of a political statement than a joke, and that I find hard to get behind.

But who cares? They're just barbarians living in a third world country, does it really matter if they die?

I think it's how instead of laughing, they'll try to make the people who did laugh at it hang their heads in shame?

I don't laugh at the event, but I don't think we need 9/11 turned into some national day of tragedy, either, especially considering there are plenty of people dying at this very moment that, if people truly cared about lives, would be getting a lot more attention.

I guess the hipocrisy bothers me. Cry

People die everyday, we need to get over it. When the things happened on 9/11, there was an initial shock and a 'What the fuck..." at the situation, but I mean it didn't affect me any so why the hell should I care? Their lives had no more meaning than anyone else. I'm not saying it was ok for them to die, but fuck it's been 3 years.

Like I said after I suggested posting it, I'm leaning towards that the reaction would be just to dismiss it out of hand, considering who it was coming from. Bio took the bait, but I don't think it would have garnered more of a reaction that just outright dismissal.

Haven't you heard? I've completely sworn off vodka since Smirnoff and Russian Prince gangbanged me and left me hanging from a toilet. Sad
