Well, I'm more thinking "WTF, Where's Kira so that Athrun and him can go kick all of their asses!"
I really want the series to get to a point where everyone will be on equal terms with Kira and Athrun. |

Deakka and Yzak better be piloting some mechs next episode! Unfortunately, it'll probably be variations on Zaku's instead of Buster and Duel. |

All I can say is, I'm enjoying this. At the same time... I'm also enjoying Gundam SEED on Cartoon Network on Friday nights. >_> Yeah. I admit I never finished watching Gundam SEED. I have a friend who has most, but not all (I don't think at least) of Gundam SEED but it's from Anime Junkies. So while some stuff in Destiny (which I suppose I shouldn't even be watching) won't make sense to me, it will eventually.
All I really want to know right now is, who's side is Athrun going to be on and when does he get his Gundam?
I also desire more dual sword Impulse action. _________________ "Your petty worries and niggling prudence amuse me, Brother." -Prince Trion [FF:XI]

The network really needs to air episode 6 sooner.
Episode 5 was pretty interesting and they seem to be doing something large, which is surprising considering that it is only 5 episodes into the series. I was wondering when the Seed universe would do a Colony Drop of somesort.
They needed to utilize Dearka and Yzak a lot more in this episode but I guess they'll make up for that in the next episode. It doesn't matter at the point because if all things go right we should be seeingLacus and Kira in the next episode.
@ the nobles, for a lack of a better word, playing snooker and Gilbert Dullindal is the mack daddy of the ship.

I watched a lot of a seed aj and it's really not that bad kakeru.
I'm enjoying it. Episode 4 was pretty good. Can't wait for eps 5.
spoiler!
I'm really thinking that the pilots for the federation are indeed similar to the drug pilots in the original. They certainly don't seem as physcotic, and feel more normal. But it seems even they can get fucked up. Especially Stellar, who freaks out after hearing that one guy on her team suggest she die. I can't wait for more info on that. Also, I can't wait to see Shinn get it with Stellar. |

At that rate you might as well watch the raws if you are willing to watch AJ's fansubs. You'll understand the same amount either way. |

See... it's the same thing I was trying to tell my friend.. but he didn't listen. All he cares about is speed and video quality. He didn't get SEED fansubs for 2 reasons: they were slow (can't much blame him for this one), and because during the ending theme the frame rate wasn't smooth. _________________ "Your petty worries and niggling prudence amuse me, Brother." -Prince Trion [FF:XI]

Episode 6 owned!
It was great to see Yzak, Dearka, and Athrun fight alongside each other once more but too bad it was in crappy Zakus. It's quite sad that the three new Gundam pilots can't even compare to Yzak, Athrun, and Dearka considering they have new models while the rest are piloting Zakus. I'd hate to see what would happen if Yzak, Dearka, and Athrun had their original Gundams.
The most important thing in this episode was the apperance of Lacus and Kira. I'm really hoping that Kira decides to take action faster but I guess that would heavily unbalance everything considering that he still probably has Freedom with him.

Shinn's a gimp of a main character. Am I the only one who feels that he's been second fiddle to Athrun so far? I mean clearly they want to continue the story of Kira and Athrun, and certainly that's a good thing, but it hurts the presentation of Shinn... but it's early.
Athrun and Yzak pulled some killer moves in those Ginns. |

I've felt the same way since almost the beginning. So far he's been fairly cliche in the mold of characters like Anakin Skywalker, how cliche that is I actually don't really know. On top of that he's blindly badmouthing one of the most noble characters from the first season, and has been only slightly above average as a Gundam pilot. They seem to be trying pretty hard to make him unlikable. I say let Athrun drive the Voltron robot, it's depressing not seeing him, Dearka, or Yzak in Gundams. Though it looks like things are about to pick up with Shinn, I don't think there will be much character development on his part that will seem unpredictable or fresh. After 50 previous episodes Athrun is still the more interesting character.
On the bright side, it was fun to watch Yzak and Athrun pick up where they left off, and we might see some Freedom action in the next episode. |

Yep, if you mess with Cagalli you must die, though I was referring to Uzumi in the other post.
spoiler?
I'm glad that they're using flashbacks again this time around. After Shinn went off on Cagalli, the flashback to Uzumi made it instantly clear that he did understand the weight of his actions on his people and stayed behind to die to take responsibility. When I saw that episode around a year ago, I wasn't entirely sure why he did that, and I admit it's a bit of ignorance on my part, but it does show just what an effective boost the flashbacks are to the storytelling. |

Episode 6 was AWESOME, that battle scene against the "Block Word Freaks" (Sting and Auel) was mesmerizing due to the fact that I've never seen Gundams being OWNED like that by a ZAKU.
Abyss leg ---> SLASH ! it's gone !!! thanks to Yzak.
Chaos's shield ---> SLASH too ! thanks to Yzak again.
and when I thought they reached the limit in Gundam amputation...
ATHRUN ZALA just sends his beam axe flying and CHOPS-OFF Chaos's other arm....
THAT SCENE WAS TOTAL OWNAGE !!!!!! |

Ep 6 was great. Want ep 7 now.
I wouldn't even really call Shinn the main character. If you ask me it seems mostly to be about Athrun anyway. Shinn may have the "OMGAWSOME" Gundam but, he's just not cool like Athrun. And if you watch the opening it looks like Athrun WILL be getting a Gundam eventually. I just hope it's soon.
I attribute the flimsyness of the stolen Gundams to Zaft's terrible rip off of Orb's technology. If you ask me, they just weren't built as well as the 5 from SEED.
Speaking of SEED, one of these days I will fully understand what's going on in this Destiny. Honest I will. I just need to find someone who can upload subbed SEED episodes to an FTP or something that AREN'T Anime Junkies. _________________ "Your petty worries and niggling prudence amuse me, Brother." -Prince Trion [FF:XI]

Where Gundam SEED failed me, Destiny has achieved greatly.
Zakus beating Gundams is probably the best thing I've seen as of yet in this series, and definitely proves that skill goes beyond the MS the pilot has. I would really like to see how the SEED pilots will compare to the Destiny pilots, even though the answer is obvious.
I was a little surprised with Yzak's convo with Athrun. I understand a bit of animosity between them from SEED, but Yzak sounded too arrogant, yet I liked it.
So it seems Kira has returned from the grave, and is obviously going to bring out Freedom. I'm really interested in seeing how he will connect with the rest of the ensemble, and how long he's staying.
God, I did not get this excited over SEED. _________________ Murphy's Eighth Corollary:

I'm not sure if that was actual animosity between Athrun and Yzak. I mean, arrogance is pretty much built into Yzak's character, and they're probably just taking playful shots at each other. Dearka seemed pretty good-natured about it. Of course you can take Yzak saying "I'm not taking orders from a citizen! I'm the commander now!" as hostility, but I think it's just a poke at Athrun since he was the one in charge in SEED.
The only way I see the spotlight being fully handed to Destiny's leads is obviously to kill off most of the characters from the original, which would displease me greatly. |

Hm... I've always thought there was something going between the two, and their conversation was not made jokingly, especially at a time like that. I even had an idea that they were not too fond of Athrun after defecting ZAFT completely. Ah well, personal opinion. _________________ Murphy's Eighth Corollary:

There's always been that kind of hostility between Athrun and Yzak though. Even in SEED Yzak never really seemed to like Athrun. Up to what I've seen at least. _________________ "Your petty worries and niggling prudence amuse me, Brother." -Prince Trion [FF:XI]

Yzak has a bit of a rivalry going on with Athrun, though it seems to be one sided, since the beginning of Seed but it's more apparent in the drama CD's.
It's clearly understandable of Shin's hostility towards Orb and Cagalli and his ignorance at this point is the cause of it. Obviosuly, he knows nothing of the sacrifices that were made during the war. I wouldn't consider Shin the main character at this point, as the story thus far has placed a heavy amount of focus on the Athrun and Cagalli. However, I think there will be a gradual shift of this role as the series progresses further. My prediction is that we'll Shin gradually take center stage or at least a heavier role in the later half of the series when he finally comes to the realization of what happened in the war and the sacrifices that were made had a reason.
The factor that will really make Shin stand apart is the development between Shin and Kira later on in the series since it was during Kira's battle at Orb that caused the death of Shin's family. I don't expect to see a bigger development between Kira and Athrun either since the events of Seed seemed to resolve that.

| So is anyone even interested in any of the new characters? I know it's harder to develop new characters due to just the sheer number of them now, but I can't even remember these guys names at times. Nostalgia, so far, has been the main selling point for me in this series. It's looking like they could have left alot of the new guys at home. I think Dullindal is pretty good, and the captain of the minerva is alright(her first officer is an idiot), and I guess I'm sort of interested in Rey since there is a bit of mystery around him, but no one else really sticks in my head. |

None of the new characters really interest me at all. Their mostly pretty boring. Also I find the design of the Minerva to be pretty ugly. The Phantom Pain (Bogey 1) on the other hand... That's a nice look'n ship. _________________ "Your petty worries and niggling prudence amuse me, Brother." -Prince Trion [FF:XI]
