I dont know how many of you are following this manga now, but if you dont you should. I'll make a short introduction for those unfamiliar with it..
The basic story is a shinigami in the shinigami world got bored and dropped his death note on earth for anyone to find. Writing someones name in that book while picturing their face kills that person. Raito is a brilliant high school kid and happens to pick up the death note. After trying it out he decides to make the world a better place using the death note. L is a brilliant private investigator who takes on the case of finding the person who is killing people all over the world using some unknown power.

Written by some chick named Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata, the guy that worked on Hikaru no go.

IMO this is the best manga to get published since bleach, and refreshing after all the shonen crap that follows the same formula. Probably the smartest and well drawn manga in ages. Atleast i cant think of anyone else atm. So if you havent read it already go download now!

and for you already reading, what do you think about the person showing up at that time with the other guy standing there and stuff (bring back spoler tags please

) No filler chaps now, thats for sure

I should catch up on it since you last introduced it to me Gray. What chapter was that anyway?

i read the One Shot, that TW did, is the series anything like that? The Shinigami seems to be the same guy...

EDIT: im gettinc chaps 1-32, cuz Gray has good taste, and he's recommened some awesome manga before, i mean, he and LO got me into 20th CB :>

I also read the One shot of DN, which is why I took my time on picking it up since the storylinee aren't exactly the same.

Its the same shinigami and most of the same reason for dropping the book, but the guyw ho picks it up is not a "pure hearted" kid per say, but rather an intelligent kid who is bored and decides to change the world. Also the fact that it seems you can't take back the death (where in the One Shot you could erase people name on the book, so they returned to life). But who knows.

yea, since ch 1 is the only one that has a volume cover page... but im doing the same as Gray, unzip in chapters, and then just do 9 per vol, when official stuff comes out i can just move the chapter folders... on another note... L ownz beyond all ownage.. if not just for his monkey like sitting fashion and near shinigami eyes

it's ok i wont feel so bad about craving it, cuz i know my friend Jon is gonna read it, and get mad hooked on it.. i introduced him to 20th CB, and he always curses at me when he gets online because there isnt anymore out

So far, I think, you can split up DN into three parts. The first part is introductory, involving Raito's discovery of the Death Note and his initiating it. The second part involves Raito and L playing a cat-and-mouse game, except the mouse openly challenges the cat, so it seems like Raito is on the offensive. Then comes the meeting of the two, which launches the third and longest arc, which is when L is now on the offensive and Raito is basically trying to figure out how to shake him. The Misa story, I think, is just a further development of this overarching premise, but is obviously an important one. The end of chapter 33 is interesting... does it mark a turn in the game? Is Raito going back on the offensive?

This guy has the best looking artwork in manga I've ever seen IMO.

I know, I was so into it when I started that when I finally realized that each chapter was a standard ~20 pages I was like... holy shit how the hell do they pack that much into each chapter?
