it's ok, i dont like Rah all that much either. I didnt get the big hoopla about it either, i mean it was kinda cool... but ultimately i just couldnt dig it all that much.

I haven't seen the last three episodes of Rah but I really like it. In fact, today I just got the artbook for it. So pretty.

The first time watching, I got a bit confused because of the weird relationships but after reading some stuff online, it made it sense. But I'm obviously still missing out a bunch because I didn't read/or want to read anything for the last three ep.

Well like I said, the trip back to Tokyo Jupiter should have provided plenty of answers (even though plenty are still left after that), so I don't see how a claim of "cluelessness" is plausible, unless you really just aren't paying attention at all.

RX certainly rewards paying close attention to the character interactions and the story that gradually unravels itself as it looms in the background. I don't agree at all that the characters have no depth; as I'm sure I've mentioned, RX's ensemble is my absolute favorite. Eva's are more intense, but RX sets up a very intricate web between a more expansive cast and does it near flawlessly. If anything, Quon is one of the flatter characters in the series... I suppose I just don't understand LoR's perspective at all. I'm also taken aback by his disapproval for the music, which is the exact opposite for me... but to each his own on that regard, I suppose, even though I liked it a lot...

RahXephon pwns, I can't see how people think its such an Eva clone, I mean, there's a lot of similariies, but the series really holds it's own. Though i had to watch it twice to be sure

. I agree with Doom about the music, it's totally fantastic and very fitting with the series.

Oh god the music is probably the worst part of the show. Every time Rahx bothers to 'fight' (if you even want to call it fighting) that synthesizer kicks in and my ears tune out. The music used during slower scenes is much better though.

And I'm clueless because I'm clueless, plain and simple. Of course I've been paying attention, and yes I understand what's going on to an extent, but that doesn't mean any of it has been easy for me to take in, because it hasn't.

And the two people who died already were like worthless deaths. One gets an episode's worth of development, the other gets about fourty seconds worth and a hankerchief. What a waste.

Regardless, I'll go and try and finish the series now.

the music takes a different approach in handling the fights with a lot of DISCORD, i.e. cacophony, i.e. somewhat ties into the motifs of the show! it doesn't make for easy listening off the OSTs and you're free to hate on it, but it's pretty obvious that you're not digging into the atmosphere of the show, which is what it's all about

you might as well NOT finish the series, you're not getting anything out of it

in fact it's probably safe to say that you got the least out of it among anyone here who has seen it, though there are plenty of people who don't like rx out there

i agree with sally in that it was probably overhyped for you, but still... what a waste indeed

Too late, already finished it.

Surprise surprise, I loved the ending (even though I saw it coming like way too early, thanks to the stupid opening).

As for watching the series again to understand it better? I'll pass. It is what it is.

What's the point in making a thread? It's already obvious that you didn't get much from it (notice I didn't say you didn't get it, since apparently your definition of "clueless" is a little different), so what's there to say? I've certainly said my fill, regardless of whether or not you liked the ending.

"It is what it is"? So, watching it again to understand it better? No, since apparently you do understand it but just can't take it seriously. Watching it again to appreciate it more? That sounds better. But you won't. So yes, I agree, don't. Don't bother with the movie either.

rah didn't need any explanation after watching it imo. Only a few questions really. Unless you're like really slow you understand most of the story by episode 20. Especially after 19.

Seriously the show appears to be 120% intended for girls. And the Aishiteruze artwork isn't helping in the slightest.

Actually the show's demographic is strictly aimed at males, roughly in the range of young teens to young adults.

It's also categorized as a harem anime (???) save without an actual guy like EVERY harem before it. Obviously why it's so popular, because it's girl x girl. Watch out though, you'll see clones popping up soon enough.

And believe it or not, I thought along the same lines as you Garbo, because the show was just so vastly different from anything I had seen before, but I gave it another shot with the second episode, and here I am absolutely adoring every aspect of the show.

I have to say that it really is a hit or miss type of deal though. No action. No fan service. No absurdly crazy hijinks. No aliens. No GUYS. Just plenty of drama with the utmost level of purity you'll ever come across in an anime (save Belldandy).

well, given its length it's bound to build upon itself, but if you're looking for something epic or profound then don't bother. i've said this many times but it's a good kids' adventure show and if that's not what you're looking for, then no need to force yourself.

It's the "opposite" of the Lord of the Flies in alot of ways. Similar setting but way different theme. It's good though if you like heavily character driven shows with a kid's show touch to it.

My personal opinion on UPS is that.. its an "OK" show. It gets VERY annoying at some points, but for the most part its bearable. Its definitely not a BAD anime, but it definitely isnt the best, either. I really dont think it should be as long as it is... it takes on up too much space for a such mediocre show

I just recently picked up the DVD to Submarine 707R and it was even better than what I was expecting. It's based on an old manga of the same creator as Blue Submarine no.6 and it completely ownz. Unfortunately, it was cut down from 6 episodes to only 2 episodes and doesn't really conclude anything but it's still a great OAV. Basically, if you liked Blue Sub no.6 then you'll like Submarine 707R.
